Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

Re: Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

Cool little amp. I've never seen one before, but lots of good "tube" vids.

Re: Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

Thats what Im saying! Good feature set, GREAT tones! A good looking amp, a 5 yr warranty and a great price.. Ill check out the Phaez's

Re: Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

Sounds just like my 15 watt Goldea Rex. Wow..looking at the controls/panel layout/spacing etc...that's IDENTICAL to my Goldea as well :lmao:

Made in "Panama"? lol.. The only thing that's different is the headshell design..and since Goldea is an OEM manufacturer..guess what I think..:laugh2:

Re: Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

Yeah..looks like their big boy the "Inferno" is the Goldea Rex 6200

..and the "Shaman" is the Goldea "Demon B" (aka..Mesa Mini Rec)

So...."Panama" is basically "Goldea".. :D

Re: Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

OR.....vice versa...... :bigok: Def looks the same, except the Goldea is trying to borrow the Hughes and Kettner look..

Re: Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

lol..They may even both be the same company..with "Panama" handling the oversea's part of things

Goldea's def been around longer though. I got mine in 2012, but that's after a year of trying to get hold of one ("Panama" was established in 2012 according to their website) & there was a guy on UG who bought his Goldea at the 2010 NAMM (That's where I first heard of them) I'm guessing Goldea either (OEM) makes these for Panama or actually IS Panama :D

It's obviously not a coincidence that all three models of both company's line have exactly the same faceplate layout/button & switch positioning/spacing etc haha..

As for the H&K look.., yeah, (among other things I'm sure) they obviously "borrowed" that, but the Goldea (especially the small one.) actually look's way cooler :D. Big chunky headshell/(faux) croc skin tolex/leather handle etc ..the H&K's kind of aneamic in comparison lol (..not only talking about the looks hehe..)

Could be either way, I was just messing.. Yeah even the thick box on that Goldea reminds me of another brand..Orange maybe?? Comparisons aside, you really like the Goldea?

Re: Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

Yeah, it's a fantastic little amp. The cleans are awesome (more Metallica-ish...rather than Fendery) & the gain channel is totally insane...it's a really rich, dynamic & meaty/full-sounding little head..

I've posted these before but...here they are again :lmao:

Honestly, that's a better/more comprehensive pair of demo's than any of the Panama ones out there on Youtube...

(If you noticed those are called "Aira" up there..same amp though..)

lol, really? ..different strokes man. I watched that video and literally searched the globe high and low for over a year until I found/bought the amp..it was an epic adventure in itself :laugh2:

This is a demo I did..sloppy, but I think I got the tones down pat..pretty much the way it sounds out in front...still don't dig?

Anyway, w/e...that's MY personal idea of amazeballs high gain haha and the moment I heard the Panama head on youtube I was struck by how familiar it sounded. The only other lunchboxes out there I'd even look at for their gain are the Mesa Mini Mark V & maybe an Orange Dark Terror or something...but that's just me.

Re: Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

I've liked your demos of it - I didn't like the OP's linked sounds

Re: Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

Oh..thanks...I thought you meant the Goldea..

What actually put me on to them both being (what I'm pretty certain is) the same amp was TTK's demo of it (Panama Fuego). That really "rang a bell" tone-wise lol (especially the tones in the last quarter of the vid), until then, I just thought "not bad ..another high gain head (..& for $499 :lmao:) ....lets check it out"

Re: Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

Havent been able to check the first clips out, but the one you did (post #12) was awesome!

From the Amazon pricing that I scoped out real quick it looks like the Panama amps might be a tad cheaper. Might be importing in bulk or something.

What do you think of this demo?

Re: Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

Well the 15 watt Goldea I got straight from the factory in Tianjin, China actually cost $154 haha (The Panama 15W equivalent is $499) but I paid another $150 for shipping (Still only a total of $300). The bigger Goldea retails for $700 in China (the Panama "Inferno" is $1499).

^^ Demo's like his & Ola's always make the amps sound too samey to me. I do still check them out but I usually skip the first part of all his demo's & go straight to the middle when it's just the mic'd amp ..and nothing else. Similarly I usually just watch Ola's "Playthrough" vids (where it's just the mic'd amp) as opposed to his full-blown multi/backing-tracked/FX-laden demo's. ..can't really tell much from those..

I think that there are a lot of larger amps around at that price that sound decent/comparable/better. The real magic is with the 15 watter. It destroys everything else out there (lunchboxes) for high gain as far as I'm concerned..lol....true story. (i'm talking about "my" ears here obviously). I just love it's tone & nothing I've played lunchbox-wise floored me the way this little amp did/does.

The big one might be great as well..does'nt sound half bad in that ^^ demo or the Goldea 6200 demo someone did on youtube years ago..

Re: Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

I cant listen to many of Olas demos for stuff like pickups cuz they sound too similar

Re: Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

Yeah..& it's the same with his amp demo's for me. I mean you can tell the difference (just about) but I prefer demo's where it's just the amp & a mic ..or even a cam-mic/phone. It's easier to judge their sound (more) accurately that way for me..

Re: Now thats what Im talkin bout!! Panama Fuego

I've been in love with Panama Amps for a while now.. I really didn't need to see this..
I wan't this so bad!
