Now What????

Today I decided to keep the ridiculously priced Pegasus/Sentient set I rather impulsively bought the other night. Now I've got to decide what I'm going to put them in? Initially I was just going to return them and get my money back but after the return shipping and a 15% restocking fee I was going to take a pretty big hit! Yesterday I got an offer from a forum bro, he said he would be happy to take them off my hands for what I paid! Awesome offer, basically he was going to bail me out of my own stupidity? I slept on it & although I may need to sell my son into white slavery to do this, I really want to try them out!

You see, I'm very intrigued by these but there's really not a lot out there as far as demos & reviews about them, @ least not for 6 string humbuckers anyway? Lots of stuff on Black Winters, I found some great Pegasus 7 string vids & quite a few 6 string videos for the Nazgul but as far as the Pegasus/Sentient 6 string set there was like 4 & none of them were very impartial? Obviously the one that Duncan uses which is the best of them BTW, only had good things to say & two others just had awful sound quality & some guy fumbling around with his shred stick. The only other one I found that was any good was in Russian & I couldn't tell if he loved or hated them? He looked very angry, I think he probably lives in some awful little village where everyone has guns & smells like soup?

Anyway, as far as W.T.F. I'm going to be doing with them I'm caught between one of my Strat's & a H/H G&L A.S.A.T., the Strat is just a Standard with a Alder body, Maple neck and Rosewood fingerboard. The A.S.A.T essentially has the same neck, Maple & Rosewood? But the body is chambered Mahogany with a Maple top & it's got a G&L horseshoe bridge. I have several Stratocasters with all kinds of different guards in them & they are by far the guitar that I feel most comfortable playing. The A.S.A.T. is currently the only true double humbucker guitar I've got, typically I like a single in the neck? I think the pickups will probably sound better in the G&L but that guitar already sounds amazing with the stock pickups & aside from my Legacy it's the only one I've got that's still 100% stock. If I put them into a Strat guard and use 500k pots I think it's going to sound good but to me it doesn't seem like the kind of guitar that's going to compliment the pickups very well? Oh, one other thing, I did read something where a guy was saying that the Pegasus 6 string humbuckers were a lot like JB's, if anyone has experience with the Pegasus please tell me this isn't so & that guy was full of it! The comment didn't really make sense to me, they seem like pretty different monsters but if there's any truth to that statement I'd rather know before then after, I friggin hate JB's!!!!!

So if you were me what would you do???????

What's wrong with guns and soup?

Re: Now What????

I'm definitely going to be using them, I'm just not sure what guitar I should put them into? If I end up not liking them I may try and sell the pickups to someone who would but I don't really have any guitars that I don't like to sell with them???

"an awful little village where everyone has guns and smells like soup."

That's gonna be my next album title.

Re: Now What????

Lol, I enjoy a nice tomato bisque with my AK-47, for split pea I like to have a bit more range so I'd probably go with my .308 Bolt & oh, I'd definitely need a Browning M2 .50 cal for Chicken Noodle??? You need some serious stopping power to get all them chickens into that can!!!

I play just about everything? Mostly Rock & Hard Rock but if I'm playing with my G.F's dad we usually play more Bluesy & Country stuff? He loves Old School Country, so I find myself with my Tele, a Compressor, & my AC a lot when we play together. I play with some other guys & we do a lot of "Jam Band" stuff, no matter how many times we play a song it's never quite the same & sometimes it's hard to find a ending so they just go on & on! When I play with my band we play mostly original Hard Rock, and Metal, a few covers but we do them our way? What I mean is if we cover a song we try to sound like us not whoever or whatever we're covering? This is what let's me justify having so many guitars, effects, and amplifiers!!!

It's also why I mostly use moderate output pickups in the bridge & vintage output pickups in the necks of my guitars. I like the guitar to be able to adapt to a situation if need be, they need to be able to do great things with gain but clean up nicely as well? It's also why I went with the Pegasus over the Nazgul, string definition is a big thing for me? That said, I've got plenty of "versatile" guitars, if one becomes a "Strictly Hard Core" guitar it wouldn't be the end of the world & from what little info I could find on them the Sentient has some pretty amazing clean tones, or so I've heard???

Re: Now What????

If you're into jam bands they should work fine. Use coil tapping for the country stuff if you need to, but I think the combo should do okay as long as the voicing doesn't create issues with your guitar (i.e. harshness or muddiness)
