Re: Nowadays Jackson or Charvel ?

Wheres the Ibanez option?
I have always been a Jackson fan. If I am not mistaken, the necks have a littel bigger profile, and yeagh, the necks are niot the thin shred necks of the Inbanez with oiled Ebony neck thru .The premium USA Jackson instruments are superbly crafted..ugh..instruments.
My next guitar will be a USA Kelly.
I don't know to much about Charvies, but they never did float my boat.

Lol if this is a poll for who made the best shredding guitar the option will be even more (esp,dean,etc.). The point of this post is charvel and jackson are both owned by the same company.

So is fender... So what? Wasnt it the hoshino factory that used to make the guitars for Ibanez and ESP amongst others.

Re: Nowadays Jackson or Charvel ?

I have a couple low-end Jackson Performer series. The thin Jackson neck and flat fingerboard are similar to an Ibanez, as opposed to the Charvel neck, that's closer to a Gibson neck with a flat fingerboard, but baseball bat thickness. I prefer Jackson.

Re: Nowadays Jackson or Charvel ?

Always liked Jacksons but not really the shark fin inlays. Preferred the Rosewood with Dots and binding al a Jeff Beck.

Re: Nowadays Jackson or Charvel ?

Want a bolt-on neck supersrat? Get a Charvel San Dimas or a Jackson Dinky. Want a neck-through guitar and/or something pointy? Get a Jackson anything other than a Dinky...

Re: Nowadays Jackson or Charvel ?

There isn't a "Jackson neck" so I'm not sure what the OP means.

He means on the one single Jackson that hes played he liked its neck better than the one single Charvel that hes played. I'm pretty sure thats how it went down. Funny enough though my old Charvel 6 shares the same neck profile as my SL1 from 98 but even those have varied over the years.

Re: Nowadays Jackson or Charvel ?

I like the Charvel Warren DeMartini SanDimas model (Took a Snake Skin model for a quick ride) over the Adrian Smith DK USA of a friend of mine... and those are the only modern Charvel/Jackson guitars I've played thru so far.

Re: Nowadays Jackson or Charvel ?

You don't really have much choice these days, so I'd say neither. Chushin Gakki, which arguably made the some of the best mid range priced "fast" playing guitars closed down a good while ago, so that means no more Charvel Pro Mods or Jackson Pro series. Now it's only Desolation/X Series models or high end MIA models.

Depending on what you like and your budget, you can track down something from either company that'll fit your taste.

C'mon I know fender owned charvel and jackson, But fender don't make superstrats and chervil and jackson does.

I don't want to buy them or anything I just want to know what you guys thought about the modern MIJ jackson or chervil nowadays.

I mean Jackson soloist/dinky vs. Charvel soloist/sandimas

I have and love my rg1550 for shredding.

My MIJ Dinky has a neck that's nothing like the neck on my MIJ Soloist. It's nothing like the the new import Dinky necks I've been seeing in stores since I started paying attention in 2003 or so. It's kinda like an original one-piece Ibanez Wizard neck.

In fact, my MIA Soloist doesn't have the same neck profile as the Japanese Soloist, either.

Re: Nowadays Jackson or Charvel ?

I have a 1989 Jackson Soloist and a 2010 Charvel Pro Mod. Both great guitars, but the Jackson is on a whole other level. Stays in tune much better, has a full tone. The neck is a little thicker, the Charvel is a flatter profile back like an Ibanez Wizard.

However, back in 1989 those Jacksons were all Custom shop, and the Charvel Pro Mod is a production. It would be more fair to compare a Custom shop Charvel to my 1989 Jackson.

If you're comparing imports of each, they vary so much that its hard to compare

Re: Nowadays Jackson or Charvel ?

I effing love the neck on my Charvel So-Cal. So very, very perfect.

Re: Nowadays Jackson or Charvel ?

The So-Cal is the first 25.5 I've spent a long time with, before that it was all short scale stuff for me too.
