NPBD x2 (sort of)

Sort of on a couple counts... First because I've had these boards lying around since March or April, though they were finished recently. Second because the smaller board is actually longcat's.

First my 'new' board:

It's built on a Holeyboard Evolution Wide, made of aluminum and maybe 3mm thick. On its own it weighs maybe 2lbs; with the pedals it's more like 25-30. It uses a Loopmaster Clean / Dirty / Channel switcher to emulate a two-amp rig I had briefly in the mid 2000s.

Signal chain is as follows:
Guitar -> vibe -> wah -> switcher (clean / dirty / tuner loops)
Clean: MIJ CS-3 -> Pickup Booster -> CE-2 -> FRV-1 -> TR-2
Dirty: OD-9 -> UFO (fuzz / octave) -> DD-2 (~150ms) -> MIJ DD-3 (~400ms)

The signal and switch outputs from the Loopmaster go to a junction box hidden under the left end of the riser; power is provided by a Pedal Power Mondo. The reverb stays on pretty much all of the time; I also use the CS-3 & CE-2 a lot. Together they get very close to the solid state clean I loved from my old ADA MP-1.

longcat's board is a bit simpler:

The board is a Holeyboard Evo amptop. Signal chain is: Pitchblack -> Octave -> Phase 90 -> Pickle Pie B -> CE-2B
It sounds pretty good and I came up with a cool riff while setting up for the photo. We're thinking about adding a Flanger toward the end of the chain; I suppose the chorus may have to go if it won't fit on the board. Power is provided by a Pedal Power 2 Plus under the board.

Re: NPBD x2 (sort of)

Looks like you both have good taste in pedals.

Re: NPBD x2 (sort of)

Maybe this should be a separate post, but I need to include a shout out to Kevin Wilson.

The wah pedal on my board started its life as an early 2000s Vox 'Union Jack' 847, though I was never truly happy with it. The tone was decent, but the bypass sucked, and the crappy pot failed. I've been through a few wahs since; the 535Q was versatile, but it didn't sound all that great. I thought the Teese Picture Wah sounded great, but it wasn't tweakable at all. Ditto the Fulltone Clyde, though honestly I thought the Teese sounded slightly better. I was ready to shell out for a Teese RMC3 but Geoff Teese isn't the easiest to deal with and I really wanted to use my cool Union Jack case. The Guy Who Invented Fire pointed me toward Wilson Effects and the rest is history. Kevin was awesome to deal with, and now I have a highly tweakable Clyde Wah that looks just as cool as it sounds. Highly recommended to anyone in the market for a boutique wah.

What is a picture wah, anyway?

The RMC4 'Picture Wah' is Geoff Teese's clone of the Vox Clyde McCoy. I've never played an original but prior to trying the Wilson, The Teese Picture Wah was the closest I'd ever heard to Jimi or SRV's wah sounds. In fact 'RMC' stands for "Real McCoy".

Edit:
I should add that Teese called his Clyde clone the Picture Wah because the first version of Vox's Clyde McCoy has a picture of its namesake on the bottom of the pedal.

The new revision of the 535Q has a picture of Ace on the bottom.
