NPBD!

Well, it was actually yesterday but I had a gig last night so I didn't touch it until today. I had been shopping around for a bigger board from someone like Helweg or Trailer Trash for a while, then Pedaltrain offered to hook me up with a PT-3. Not one to turn down a deal, I took it. It looks pretty naked right now. My DD-20 is on the sidelines until I get a better power supply, and I have some other things on the way to fill it in:

Walrus Audio is sending me a Voyager, and I picked up an Empress compressor. A Voodoo Lab Mondo will power everything, and I'd like to add a serious reverb unit in the near future. I can't decide if I'd rather go with the Strymon BlueSky or Eventide Space, though.

Re: NPBD!

Nice board! (NPBD also means "New Pigbacon Day" in some cultures.)

Re: NPBD!

Nice...i've been debating swapping my Euphoria out for a Micro Pog...my tone is usually clean, so i find myself never using the Euphoria?

Re: NPBD!

How is that rook ?

It's nice! I had a FD2 on my board for years, but got tired of it taking up so much space (petty, I know). The Rook gives me similar tones in a smaller footprint, but I actually think it feels a bit nicer under the fingers. I like that it has bass/treble controls instead of a single tone, too.

Re: NPBD!

Very nice! I'm actually planning to upgrade from my PT-1 to one of those in the next few months. I'll keep more or less the same pedal setup but I'm going to add a true bypass loop switcher to make playing live easier. I've got one question though - can you fit a wah pedal in the side pocket of the case? Just curious.

I'm actually considering switching out my Orbit for a Bluesky. I'm just not too crazy about flanging (or it may just be this unit) and I was doing some clean volume swells at practice yesterday with my El Cap or Memory Lane Jr, I don't remember which it was, and I thought to myself, "Man, this would sound beautiful with some shimmer reverb."

Re: NPBD!

The OP has nice stuff... that Strymon stuff is as large as they are expensive... I wouldn't be surprised if they had stock in Pedaltrain. lolz! You'll have to update us when you get your other gear for sure.

Care to offload your PT-1 in a few months to an eager forum member at a "bro" price? ; )

If you don't mind the stickers, not at all.

Re: NPBD!

Just asking - what are you looking for out of the reverb unit the Flint can't deliver?

Just more options really, and the ability to switch between a standard spring sound and something big & 100% wet without having to reach down and turn knobs. It'd mostly be used for my post-rock stuff, which is reverb intensive. I'd probably move the Dispatch Master in front of my dirt pedals then, too.

Re: NPBD!

I think you'll really like the Voyager!

For your ambient stuff, i can't imagine not getting the Space!

Re: NPBD!

I'm excited about the Voyager for sure. I've played with one and thought it sounded great, so when Walrus said they'd hook me up a bit I couldn't say "VOYAGER" fast enough.

As for the Space, I think it would be killer. If it's good enough for "This Will Destroy You" and some of the crazy reverb sounds they get, it should do the trick. I might have to put together a PT Nano for my pop gigs at that point and move the Dispatch Master over to it, though :laugh2:
