NPD: Am I blue? Nope!

My MXR Blue Box showed up today and I could not be happier. The fuzz is unreal if you turn off the octave and slowly and faintly dial it in. Just a fat, loose, buzzy, thick as hell fuzz. It sounds great through the little Fender Excelsior and the Tele. I am very happy with the purchase and wonder why it took me so long to own one of these babies.

Re: NPD: Am I blue? Nope!

I found that the blue box was a really fun pedal to play around with, but hard to use in songs. It's amazing for making 8-bit nintendo sounds from your guitar though. :P

The over the top gated fuzz sound that it does is cool though.

Re: NPD: Am I blue? Nope!

I think it's funny to buy this uniquely weird effect and use it for half of what it does.

It's like buying a gaming PC for word processing.

Good to hear!
There’s no volume drop? I think I remember having that issue but it may have been a lemon.

That somehow sounds like me I’ll admit - I usually just blend in a bit of octave for ‘thickness’ in regular use, but there are def. times I just go crazy with the octave.

As for volume drop, I remember feeling like mine was at one point afflicted but I either learned how to adjust it or got used to it.

Re: NPD: Am I blue? Nope!

I brought it to practice tonight everyone but the bass plyer loved it (go figure). He was kind of right that pedal needs to lend itself to a specific song. If not an original something like "Spirit In The Sky"

Cool! That’s an effect I can say I have never used, cept on my Ultimate Octave, and that’s a fuzz with a very specific effect, not a straight octave like this unit.
