How different does it sound compared to the stock one? Are these active pickups?

It’s a passive pickup meant to be used with active electronics. The stock pickup wasn’t bad but it was a bit on the hot side for my taste and only had 2 wires so was always in series.

This one l, apart from having 4 wires, is less hot and has more clarity/definition and string separation.
