Holy crap I'm spending a lot of money on pedals right now for someone who never plays anymore. But it sure is fun buying pedals.

Yep, I'm going with a stock photo for now. Mine won't be here until this coming week. I used to have a Mini Q-tron, so I know this one is going to be a lot of fun.

You better send me your guitars and I'll keep them maintained and in working order. It'd be a shame to have them collecting dust. I s'pose you better keep one for testing pedals.

One of the best envelope filters, and fun pedals to use. If you turn one on in a song, it wakes people right up.

I have an Xotic Robotalk that's similar, but different. The best one ever made was the Lovetone Meatball. I even like the Q Tron more than the one it copied...the Mutron.

Great sounding pedal, but.... I had one that shorted out my entire board during a gig. I didn't know at the time what caused the malfunction; it was a nightmare.

I have an Xotic Robotalk that's similar, but different. The best one ever made was the Lovetone Meatball. I even like the Q Tron more than the one it copied...the Mutron.

Do you have any Lovetones? Those were some sweet pedals!

My first attempt at ordering one of these didn't work out. It was an attractively priced used pedal from the mail order division of a well-known retailer. That unit was sold out from under me in the customary online manner -- the item had already sold and the listing should have been taken down, but their system allowed me to "buy" it anyway, to the point that my card went through and I got an order confirmation e-mail. Then I got a "backorder" e-mail. You know what it means when a used item is backordered?

So I decided to cut through the nonsense and ordered a new one from a popular mail-order house that had it in stock.

What exactly happened?

The originals had the 1/8th-inch 9-volt power input. My pedal wouldn't seat the male plug correctly. It would slip just a hair out and short out the whole board.

That happens too often. I now send an email to verify if it's there first. I tried to get an SP comp this weekend but it was gone.

It looks like e-commerce but it's more like Craigslist.
