Had a fun distortion pedal shoot out today. Played about 8 different pedals at Ludlow Guitars.

In the end it was between the Empress Distortion and the Keeley Rahlhammer. And then Jim from Ludlow brought over the Empress Heavy. Instant love. Had to have it. Bought it. Killer pedal.

I never realized how much a gate came in to play in getting that tight heavy sound.

Empress makes some really great stuff. Very versatile/adjustable and well thought out features.

I've had the heavy for awhile now and its the best distortion pedal I've owned. Worth every penny.

I used to have their tremelo unit. I sold it because I really didn't use it that much, but MAN it was well made, brilliant design and so many features. They are an excellent pedal manufacturer.
