NPD: Flanger Content

Just snagged a Boss BF-2 for cheap on eBay. I used to have a BF-2B and sold it several years back. Wish I still had it because it works great with guitar. Been watching a few different flangers but this deal was just too good. The seller said everything worked when I asked.

I know I keep buying and selling pedals but these can be useful in many ways. Worth having around.

Re: NPD: Flanger Content

I just picked one up myself locally for $40. I used to have one back in the day an compared every flanger since to it. Now it's back and it sounds glorious.

Re: NPD: Flanger Content

I remember trying one of those in 80-81 and wondering "what kind of sorcery is in this little box" Those things are incredible.

Re: NPD: Flanger Content

Nice! I ditched my MXR EVH flanger for a BF-2 a while back and I'm loving it. I was after some Jake E Lee flanger tones and he used a BF-2, I set it to his settings and couldn't be happier with it. Funny thing is the first new pedal (not a hand me down from my brother) I ever owned was a BF-2 and I sold it years ago and switched to an MXR, now I went full circle back to the BF-2.

Re: NPD: Flanger Content

I used to have a MXR gray box, the old AC cord version, and it was amazing. The BF-2B was the closest to it I've heard. I like the BF-2 as well.

The HF-2 I'm not a fan of. Something about that high band being dialed up like that.

I ended up selling the CS-3 compressor so I guess it's a 1 for 1 swap. :)

Now I can get my Unchained on again. Lol

I ditched mine for a MOOG and I am happy as well. I couldn't take the volume drop when I engaged the MXR anymore. I love MXR and have a ton of MXR pedals. The flanger was the only one I had the problem with. And the sound of the MXR was ....

I never trust my memory, but I thought you were in a must have compressor phase. Was it someone else, or did the honeymoon not end well?

With the band setting it just wasn't working well. Lost too much dynamics and too much squish. I messed with it for a while before deciding to let it go. Another reminder that compressors aren't my thing.

Re: NPD: Flanger Content

It's nice having a flanger again. It arrived yesterday. Sounds great. It will definitely be useful with my setup.

Re: NPD: Flanger Content

What was the Swiss time on how long it took you to play a VanHalen riff after getting it plugged in?

Re: NPD: Flanger Content

Don't forget about this one.

Re: NPD: Flanger Content

The reason I switched from the EVH flanger to the BF2....

When you get tired of the unchained setting set the knobs to... 1 o'clock, 1 o'clock, 11 o'clock, 11 o'clock (this... / / \ \) and you have Jake's BF2 settings from his Ozzy days. Actually can be used for unchained too, it's not perfect but it's a more versatile overall setting than the very hard chop of the unchained setting.

It's been so long since I've played that. LOL LOVE that one too.

I could never dial his settings in right. I'll try those out. Thanks for the tip. I love how he use flange and delay on the intro to Never Know Why.
