NPD Fulltone 70

Chickenwings

Alnico 6/8
Yeah its pretty good. I like it.
The mids knob is a good thing.
I like the bias control hidden inside so you can set how firm the low end is.
Its got plenty of complexity in the note sustain/decay.
Its got more definition than an NKT275 sunface.
It has that characteristic "bump" in the fuzz when you roll your guitar volume between 9 and 10. It gets clean enough as you roll back. If you need dead clean you can always turn the sucker off! Trimming the bias to suit your guitar will give you the right sizzle/low end balance at rolled back volumes.
Cool pedal.
It will definitely get some gig/recording time.
Always horses for courses, but i like the way it interacts with a JTM style amp. The cut of silicon rather than the smoothness germanium is cool.
Ill do another update after a gig or two, but i've always been happy with silicon whereas i have found germanium to be temperamental and unpredictable.

Perhaps one way to compare silicon fuzz faces to germanium is kinda like comparing greenback speakers to g12h's. They are both cool for different reasons.
As far as silicon fuzz faces go tho, the fulltone 70 is a winner. Well worth checking out. Plus it has a regular power socket and an LED!

What other silicon Fuzz Faces have you compared it to?

Something just clicked in my head recently, I've got some serious Fulltone GAS. '70, '69, OCD, Deja Vibe, and of course the Tube Tape Echo....

Enjoy, sounds really fun! :)

Re: NPD Fulltone 70

The hartman bc108. Pretty great pedal, but no mids knob.
The JH fuzz face. Great too, but no mids knob, no light and the bias pot is hidden under the circuitboard. Plus its huge.
An old shin-ei fuzz....i dunno if this one is a fuzzface or not, but it was in the same ballpark. Not as much harmonic complexity as the others.
Sound wise i like the 70 better than both. They are all pretty similar but the mids knob and the bias make it easier to tune to the guitar and rig. Its also a little more (hard to describe) "industrial?" sounding? Its like it is really pissed off about something at higher settings. Like a steampunk metal dragon in a cage lol

speaing ok deja and ocd and tube tape....owned and used all 3 of those. All really nice too. Ocd is superp through fenderish clean amps. Well worth keeping one of those around.
Deja...yes its fun, but its so big and i found i didin't use it much, so it had to go.
tape echo...yeah really great as an aux in a recording environment....play the recording and use the slider to sync it up. Great warm sound.
