Picked up an MXR Distortion III :)

I wanted something to sorta compliment my blues driver. I did some reading in the MXR dirt pedal thread and remembered that I once saw a Distortion III on the board of one of my favorite guitarists, so I thought what the heck? The price is right.
Anyways I got it today and plugged in the strat. The Dist. III has a more "cardboardy" midrange than the BD-2, which was something I was missing (especially since I ditched the MI Audio CB which sometimes felt like TOO MUCH mids). The MXR also has a bass tightness and compression that kinda reminds me of the Dyna Comp. It's not too messy for rock rhythm and the leads are smooth. It really sits in between things like the BD-2 and a typical TS overdrive.

BTW I also love the tone knob on the Dist. III, seems like a "presence" knob, but I could see that getting in the way if you were used to a more "normal" tone control that effects just the highs.

Anyways, I'm happy so far (only had it for a few hours). I plan to check back in once I've found some humbuckers to try with this thing, once I've gotten to play it next to the BD-2 and with my amp above "2", and also I'll hook this up to a Haze 40 and see how well it works with an amp that's pretty cardboardy to begin with.
