This is just the right middle-of-the-road distortion for a lot of things. I really like how you can crank the distortion and back off the guitar's volume for a sweet bluesy tone. Then you can turn the volume up with a humbucker and just rock out. Even at max gain, it's got a nice texture that lets the individual strings stand out.

I am really sorry to say this - because I am sure that it is a fine pedal.

But the SD9M is SOOOOO much more of a fine pedal. Seriously.

I already had an OD-9 (and love it), and based on the build quality and the sound, I was excited to try another of Maxon's offerings. It's one of the few relatively nondescript general-purpose distortions I've tried that made me want to keep playing.

Doubt it. I had a JD9 and the controls are different. It was more like a Tubescreamer with more volume and a mid control.

My money is on the Ibanez SD9 being the Ibanez equivalent of the Maxon SD9.

The Ibanez JD9 is actually the same as the old Super Tube Screamer which is a standard Tube Screamer sorta deal except with more output level boost available and a knob to control the mid hump.

Nope. Just annoyed at how you go around crapping in people's threads and telling them about what they "should" have bought instead. I like Maxon pedals, and I don't need anyone else to justify it.

its ok jessie, icebob just likes to crap on others to make himself feel better about himself, its fairly common. the weird part is he does it in a wig and spandex
