NPD - my take on a theme

These turned up in the post today...



For the curious, the bridge is an SSL6 wind, with Five-Two pole-pieces, the middle is a RWRP Five-Two, and the neck is a standard Five-Two. All have flat pole-pieces. I'm not sure what they're going in yet, but it will likely be Strat shaped.

Stratocaster pickups in a Stratocaster and, in all probability, ending up sounding like a Stratocaster? Some people could have a problem with that.

I just accepted a Fender MIM Tele + cash against an MIM Stratocaster with Fender Super 55 Split Coil pickups and seven sound wiring. The recipient is now displeased because his Stratocaster sounds like a regular Stratocaster (sans hum) rather than some HSH Rawk beast.

Strange, but true - it'll have a little of the edge taken off then, more so in the bridge, but that's kind of the idea - should sound lovely through the SS22 I reckon.

Some people could have a problem with that.

It genuinely did seem to. :banghead:

When he and I first discussed a possible transaction, I took along four Stratocasters of varying excellence. The idea was to establish some shared notion of what an SSS Stratocaster-type guitar might possibly sound like through his amplification. (Implicit in this is the idea that it would also illustrate that an SSS Stratocaster is unlikely to outgun his HH shred stick.)

I did observe that I seemed to get more volume out of the four guitars than he could. The guy applies the same picking/strumming hand technique regardless of guitar and pickup type. I dig in a lot harder on vintage-style Fender electric guitars than I do on, say, a Gibson Les Paul.

Enough about me. This is your story.

A2 in an SSL-6 should be creamy on the high strings, cool idea.
