NPD New pickguard day

I made a new pickguard for one of my strats. It has a UOA5 59, Cool Rails, and a Distortion with a double thick A5 and ceramic spacers. 500k pots with a 10nf cap and a neck/bridge blender. I'm diggin each position, especially the UOA5 59. The Cool Rails has some nice gain going on in middle position. And I'm liking the A5 Distortion better than all ceramic.

Looks great like that.
The close-knob would be in my clumsy way a bit but the lower two wouldn't bother me a bit.
I have a few two-knob guitars with the volume backed-away nicely like your middle-knob is.
Just rambling,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,nice work.

Thanks. I changed it from 2 pups and 2 knobs to more stuff to fiddle with. Plus it was just a $10 pickguard so may as well use all 3 slots. If I were in a band I'd probably go for the rawk ergonomic setup.

Sounds fatter and juicier. They have double thick A8 too!

Have you tried a double thick A8? I might have to try one in a Custom. I think I could use it to create a "PAF on steroids" type vibe. I like the sound of that phase too, might have to make it a trademark.

Haven't tried double thick A8 yet. That would be a PAF on steroids. They have them at axes r us. I just scored a couple!

I hate to have to ask you to do an experiment for me, but since you have some double thick A8s could you see they sound with ceramic spacers in a Custom? I'm totally fine if you don't want to, I just don't have a double A8 or a Custom on hand. It seems like it might be a rather nice pickup.

I have a regular sized A8 in my Custom with ceramic spacers and it's great! My double thick A8s will take a couple weeks to get here from the UK.

I bet it is! Plus the output must be tremendous! That's why I was considering the double A8. My only concern would be a double A8 might be too dark, even with the ceramic flanking magnets. I might have to try it on a Full Shred if that is the case.

Yes, please send sound clips, both of the guitar is it is now, and something with a double A8 and ceramic spacers. I haven't been this interested in a pickup in quite some time.

Here's a phone clip of the Distortion. The double thick A8s are in the mail. It sounds ok with headphones. If you want, I can get out the interface and mic and try to play better ha!

If you already addressed this, I apologize, but did you add the ceramic spacers to the Distortion? It's been more than a decade since I cracked open an SH-6, but I don't remember it having them.

Distortions don't come standard with ceramic spacers. The Invader and the Black Winter do.
