NPD - Pearly Gates

After trying all kinds of magnets in the 490/498 set on my LP Studio, I popped in a set of Pearly Gates today. I can't get over what a dramatic difference these PUs made in this guitar. Tone is exactly what I was wanting. About half the time when I swap PUs I wind up wishing I'd just held on to my money but these things seriously took this LP to a whole 'nuther level. Okay, I'm starting to sound like an ad so I'll stop now.

The Pearly Gates neck is maybe the best neck pickup I've ever used. Have one in my HH Strat with a Custom Custom bridge.

Magic happens with those Pearly Gates! Congrats on finding the right ones!

the pgn is widely loved. the pgb is a kick ass pup if you know how to use it. 90% of billys playing is bridge pup

PGn is one of the best necks. First time I put Pearly Gates in my LP Studio I was convinced PGs should be the factory default pickups for all Les Pauls.

To me, the PGs work bet in LPs, and other thick-sounding mahogany guitars. They are a little bright for my ears in anything else.

Tried a PG neck in my Maple neck Alder body with a Quilt top Carvin DC 127 as a match for the Perpetual Burn in the neck, Worked very well in that guitar. Well balanced and very clear but still very sweet and big sounding. In this guitar don't find it to be overly bright at all . Here are some live clips from last Sunday with the combo.
