NPD - RE. DOD 250 OD

Phantasmagoria

watch where you point that sabre
I've always wanted one..,cuz Yngwie :D

It's great...the hype is real. and it looks pretty with the gold sparkle :D

With my Cort w/ Fishmans..

I will need to dig out something w/ single coils..so I can dime ala Yngwie and see what that sounds like :bigthumb:

Cort w/ Fishman's (Open Core Classics) w/ the Single coil bridge voicing selected and the DOD pedal dimed.. Vox NT50 amp & 1x12 cab..new TC Electronic Skysurfer reverb pedal in the loop..

I love the tone and feel of this pedal. It gives the notes a certain "roundness" & bounce with it's compression. A pleasant surprise was how cool it works/sounds for tapping :bigthumb:

Really cool! I don't like the pedal format, but this is one that I have actually been wanting to try myself: whenever I play my single-coil guitars, the 250 model in my HX Effects manages to bring them up to a comparable level of volume and distortion to my humbuckers. Who would have tought THAT would work, right? :lmao:

It is a great pedal I have one, along with an original MXR D+, and a ROSS Distortion. From what I understand, they are all the same circuit board, the difference being the input capacitor. The MXR D+ lets through more signal, so it is a bit hotter than the others with a bit more gain. Also, the 250 uses silicon diodes, the MXR D+ uses germanium diodes, typically. In the early days of pedals, these guys used whatever components were readily available so the drift in tone from pedal to pedal can be noticeable. Especially in the earlier models.

^^ Nice bit of info. All I know is I've been gassing for one of these since forever...but I could'nt get my hands on any of the earlier reissues and obviously the originals wee pretty much out of the question as well..

Sweet, but you should give the actual pedal a go if you have the chance ...it does something really cool to your guitar, especially if you like to shred :bigthumb:

Got a project going on that may require one...

What say you all on vintage, repot, clones etc...

I think the 250 reissue is truer to the original than the D+. The new D+ is a bit fizzy for me. That being said, I do not use the 250 a lot you are welcome to borrow it if you need it.

Ive got a gray one -disliked it -but I had all humbucking guitars as a kid - then I put it through single coil guitar and then liked it a lot

Nice playing sounds great. I just bought one myself a couple weeks ago. I don't remember if I ever owned one back in the day but there were only so many options. But I am digging it on my retro set up right now, rocking a DS-1 , a Rat, a Maxon 808 a Fuzz Face mini and the DOD 250. The 250 is getting most of the play right now.
