NPD: Seymour Duncan 805!

A question before I chat about this.. What is the difference between mine and the one with the cream looking knobs? Made elsewhere? new parts?

I recently got my hands on this SD 805 Overdrive pedal and I love how it sounds, is it my favourite overdrive? No, but boy is it damn good! Been using it with my PRS SE loaded with 59/JB tuned to Drop C with my Mesa Mark III Blue Stripe!

Very cool, congrats! Great pedal.

I think the color of the knob depends on the production year.

Looking forward to getting my hands on one in the near future. Happy to hear you like it.

Re: NPD: Seymour Duncan 805!

It is easily my favorite overdrive...and I use mine as the only source of gain.

Re: NPD: Seymour Duncan 805!

I would vote for the JCM800 cranked hit with the 805 :)

I second the JCM and raise you a Plexi!! I’d love to hear both!
Also...don’t forget a link to your YouTube channel!!!

I'll put a vote in for the Mesa.

Congrats! I love mine. It is my favorite overdrive for tightening a high-gain amp, personally. What is yours, then?

Airis Effects makes my favorite stuff for tightening up high gain tones! www.airiseffects.com The Savage Boost is great for a budget, the Brutal Drive is an absolute gem with a bit more control! (ps: use code "wheelz" for 5% off when buying an Airis Effects pedal at checkout)

I wanna hear it on the Mesa

Re: NPD: Seymour Duncan 805!

Nice score dude.
I'm curious how the EQ section affects the pedal, it's still a tube screamer in the end and those generally don't sound good with Marshalls IMO. That's why my vote goes to do a compare video on how the pedal works out with a Marshall and a Mesa. (though I'm not sure if the Mark series are also scooped sounding by nature?)

Mark series Mesas aren't scooped by nature. Their rotary tone controls are pre-gain, and it's actually very difficult to dial in a scooped (overdriven) sound without using the graphic EQ. I don't know how scooped the clean channel is because I can't recall trying to dial in a scooped clean tone. (no longer have the amp)

Re: NPD: Seymour Duncan 805!

The 805 has more gain range than any TS pedal I've ever used. The flavor is there, but you can radically change it with the active EQ.
