NPD - Thoughts on USACG?

New Project Day: I've really been wanting a Tele for a while now and decided to start a project. I already ordered a neck (Strat neck built to my favorite specs in case the Tele didn't jive with me, I could use it on a Strat) but then found this on Craigslist.

Its a USACG Alder body and USACG Maple+Rosewood Gibson conversion Tele neck. I decided to build a Strat out of the other neck and bought another Tele Roasted Maple neck for this body. Not quite sure what I'm gonna do with the USACG neck, I already have a Gibson scaled Strat neck on a Warmoth build...

I've never tried USA Custom Guitars but the quality looks very nice and I really like the shape of their Tummy Cut on this Tele. Anyone every try these?

Looks solid.

Not enthusiastic about the heavy tuners but that's a minor detail.

Its pretty light overall which is great because I will be putting an all Roasted Maple neck on it. I will be using vintage style tuners on it FWIW.

I believe he has a USACG neck on that white Iceman...not 100% sure on that though–so hopefully he will chime in and confirm or deny lol

I am glad I picked it up–paid $275 for it all (well, minus the case as I already had it) so I felt it was a great deal. I can't get any pricing on the USACG site and I'm not going to ask for a quote just to see how much this thing cost new but judging Warmoth and Musikraft prices I'd say I was happy with the pricing.

From what I can tell it will, might have to make some adjustments but should be able to get it to work....where's there's a will theres a way!

The USACG Neck on my Iceman is one of the best I've ever played; very much feels like my old '88 Gunslinger and I'd say it's definitely a higher quality than I've seen with the number of Warmoth Necks I've owned. Granted, it's the only USACG I've every touched but I've had plenty of Warmoth experience. I'd snag that Tele Project it if it was decently priced.

Ha! Sounds like their necks are awesome–I won't be using the neck one this one! lol I have an all Roasted Maple neck coming in probably Monday for it....might have to build another one for the spare neck though! lol Thanks for the info!

FWIW, Ive always heard nothing but good things about the USACG stuff. I like they tele body with the tummy contour.. Unfortunately, I have some, uh.. contour myself.
what kind of keys are those? look nice. uOpt, why do you not like the tuners??

Thanks man–definitely feels worthy of good things! I hear ya on the contours. lol

They are Wilkinson–they feel like they are very good quality. It also has a Wilkinson Tele bridge.

USACG necks are awesome. At the very least they're as good as Warmoth and in many cases better. My favorite thing is that they'll do pretty much anything reasonable in terms of custom requests whereas Warmoth doesn't want your business if what you want isn't on their website. (for the most part)

Project update:

Got a new Roasted Maple neck from Allparts for $190 shipped and love it! Its fat/chunky and has my favorite radius, 9.5" straight. I asked for the darkest one they had and I got a really nice carmel color one. The nut width is 1 5/8 and while I prefer 1 11/16, I think it will be great for a Tele.
