NPD- Way Huge Swollen Pickle

I've been wanting a good fuzz for a long time, and the pieces finally fell in place today. GC had a 13% off coupon so I took the plunge. I was originally looking at the Zvex fuzzes but I gravitated towards this one more. Not sure what it is about it, I just like it better. Anyway, here is a pic in its new home. (knob settings not actually how I use it, this was taken straight out of the box)

Awesome! I really want one of those. I almost picked one up for a really good price from the same guy I bought my Green Rhino from, but I couldn't afford both and I needed an overdrive more than a fuzz.

I really love the Way Huge construction. The switches are great.

Congrats, dude. :beerchug:

Re: NPD- Way Huge Swollen Pickle

English is not my native tongue, so bare with me in this question... is that the gayiest name for a pedal ever?

Re: NPD- Way Huge Swollen Pickle

If they keep going this way, next pedal will be called 'pickle milk' or something

Re: NPD- Way Huge Swollen Pickle

Read again......has been like this since the 90's!
And even older on EHX pedals!

And I am trying to rid of mine!!
Got tired of the endless fiddling with knobs....bores me out of my skull doing that!

Re: NPD- Way Huge Swollen Pickle

Hehe lots of people prolly??!!!
Nah no fun...
I like to buy a few great ones instead....love what others do...ones own sh!t tends to get boring in the long run.....

Have ditched all the drives and distortions in my setups now.....
Only uses fuzzes and amp drive again now....feels like a full circle of sorts...kinda funny!

Its kinda funny cause I've bought and modded alot of pedals over the years also...Some pedals I do just get sick of and I move on from them....I loved the BOR when I first got it,and these days I like the boost more than the overall tone of the pedal...Ears always are changing! ;o)

Re: NPD- Way Huge Swollen Pickle

That is why I like buying other stuff!!
People hear things differently!!

I am back to mostly buying old stuff now...and a few modern ones...finally got around and got myself a few Foxrox pedals....that man knows stuff.....the rest I'll just ignore more and more as time goes on!

Too many people are making pedals now.....
I'm sick of overdrives, compressors, delays, chorus and so on!!
It has just become too much....

So I dig small timers like Dave Fox, who has been doing this for along long time, and not just pedals either....

Oh my god! Yes the market is flooded with this stuff...Every issue of Vintage Guitar has a new pedal and new amp from new people...Thank God for Youtube! ;o)

Re: NPD- Way Huge Swollen Pickle

Its a great pedal, I used one for a while little while. I too got really sick of fiddling with the knobs. No pedal should have 7 knobs. I could never get comfortable with one sound. I picked up a tweak fuzz instead, which ironically calls for little tweaking. Just a fuzz face with 6 switchable voices, only two of which I use. The pickle is a great pedal though, very versatille. Sounds great with humbuckers, btw.

Re: NPD- Way Huge Swollen Pickle

It's funny that Jorge Tripps used to be a boutique builder that would call Jim Dunlop's engineers and talk circuits. Dunlop would get angry and tell his engineers to stop sharing info with Jorge. Then, years later, Tripps ends up being the engineer at Dunlop/MXR/Way Huge that resurrects the companies, and brings them back to a reputation of being high quality.'

All of the best pedals that those companies have made for the past several years have been great quality, and particularly the Way Huge stuff.

Re: NPD- Way Huge Swollen Pickle

Looks versatile! Haven't tried one yet. Kinda set with fuzzes for awhile though.

Re: NPD- Way Huge Swollen Pickle

the reissue has alot of tones which i nice. the original was super scooped and gave me issues with how it sat in the mix. So i'm fine with the extra knobs and functions. But i always end up coming back to the ramshead muffs. And ive owend a original swollen pickle and a wren and cuff pickle pie. I was always fighting the scooped mids unless i was in my bedroom. and when you tweak in more mids it doesnt sound like a swollen pickle anymore.

Re: NPD- Way Huge Swollen Pickle

Very versatile pedal, i just wish Way Huge or Dunlop would post the settings they used for the samples they have on their site. That is such a short sight on their end.
