Got it used at GC. I put a deposit on it last week. Just came off their "hold" today. It's been a long time since I've had a delay pedal. It's been fun messing around with it.

I built this board a couple months ago, and I'm already in the planning stages for the next one. It's getting out-grown already.

Re: NPD

I had a Boss DD...6 I think it was, for a long time -- pretty good delay; with stereo and it had a decent reverse delay too. Their delays are good value for the $ I think - congrats!

Re: NPD

Question...The 3 BOSS's go into the loop on my OR-15, Is that the best order to run them? FL-CH-DL? I guess I could mess around with the order, just wondering what the norm is.

Thanks.

Re: NPD

Maybe reverse Flange / Chorus, but the delay should definitely be last. Do you know which version DD-3 that is? I scored a version 1 MIJ DD-3 (dates to Apr '88) off craigslist for $65 a few weeks ago. Supposedly the same circuit as the DD-2, and it sounds great. The lousy conversion by today's standards causes the repeats to degrade pretty badly in an almost tape-sounding way.

Re: NPD

I'm not sure what version it is. I was wondering myself but haven't opened it up yet to see if its got the long chip. If I had to guess, it's a newer one. The bottom plate is a generic rubber one. It does say BOSS on it, but my Flanger (MIJ) and Chorus (MIT) have the colored stickers on the bottom.

Thanks for the suggestion on the order.

Re: NPD

Just realized the DC socket is the smaller PCB mounted one, so it definetly isn't a late 80's MIJ DD-3.

Re: NPD

IMO; You need TWO delays:

A Boss DD-3, and an Ibanez AD9. Those two will get you everywhere you need to go. I'll accept an MXR CArbon COpy these days in place of AD9…maybe a Mooer Ana echo.

I got rid of my AD9 many many moons ago. But the DD-3, hell - it's even gone acoustic recently and now is back in the Metal lineup.

Re: NPD

It's not a fancy boutique pedal or anything but you are right, it is fun to play with. It actually has a real good sound considering that it's digital and all. I used to thing it would make my amp sound processed but it's not bad about that at all. The delay kind of tags along the amp tone as long as you don't get crazy with the mix. Cool pedal.

Re: NPD

How do you like the Snark pedal tuner? (Don't mean to threadjack, just more of an aside.)

Re: NPD

I love the DD3 I have a DD6 because I needed the WARP setting for Give It Away by the RHCP. Both are solid delays. I do agree with Ace you need two great delays, I have the DD6 set for my slapback stuff and the MXR Carbon Copy for my multi tap stuff.

Re: NPD

Yeah. I've been eyeing a couple MXR CC's on reverb.com, though I think my next pedal purchase will be a reverb. Possibly a Holy Grail. Then I'll look more into a 2nd delay.
