NPUP Day

Put a TB-4 into my Jackson DXMG the other day. Thanks again Artietoo! I was going to take it apart and make a hybrid with it, but it just looked to good to mess with.
Seems to have more bottom than the EMG H3 it replaced. Still plenty of top sizzle. I think that it may be staying put for a while.

Re: NPUP Day

First guitar of mine to have a zebra in it. Not normally concerned with appearances, but I think that it looks cool with the EMG.

Re: NPUP Day

Looks awesome... Does it blend well with the neck?
I just recently installed my first zebra, too... I never liked them. But I'm kinda diggin it.

Re: NPUP Day

When I first installed it, it was out of phase with the EMG. So the middle position sounded off. Easy fix, I flipped the quick connect on the EMG. Middle position still lacks a bit of bass, but the mids are nice.
As far as output, the two pickups are well balanced. You don't have to change your amp settings when you switch between the two. The JB is, well, the JB. The HZ3 has a nice top end in the neck position, though you have to lower the bass side of the pickup to keep it from getting too thick in the bottom.

Re: NPUP Day

I went through an anti-JB phase, but i recently put one back in my M-100 with an Air Norton in the neck...... It's staying this time.

Re: NPUP Day

I always liked Jackson's Charcoal Grey, and that zebra JB looks right at home there. I'm not usually concerned with looks either, but I'd be tempted to get a zebra 59 or something for the neck to complete the look.
Love that M100, rumblebox! I had one myself and it looked similar to yours cause it was my work horse at the time.

Re: NPUP Day

I've considered it, but for now, I like the H3 in the neck. It's got a fantastic mix of bottom and attack that works well.
And I like the looks of the covered EMG paired with the Zebra.
And I'm loving the stock TB-4 in the bridge. Plenty tight for chugging and perfect for leads. It seems to be made for a super strat with a Floyd.
