So I was at band practice the other day, and it was awhile before the other two guys were ready so I started noodling around with my amp and my buddy's NS-2, because mine was in the other room and I was too lazy to go get it. I noticed immediately that for some reason his took off a bit of high end when compared to mine, and it seemed the threshold was more responsive (ie. didn't have to set it as high as mine to get the same gating effect). I was using his at about 2 o'clock.
So after awhile I went to go get mine and plugged it in... Right away I realized that there was a lot more high end, and not only did I have to set it quite a bit higher to get the same effect (4 o'clock) but it also seemed that even with it activated there was this odd background hum depending on where I was standing and which way I was facing. I noticed that for some reason it seems as if the Output jack on my NS-2 has been stretched... meaning a cable will almost slide right into the jack as opposed to having some resistance.
So first off I'm wondering why might there be differences between our two identical pedals? Could it be because of the "stretched" jack on mine? And secondly, how can I fix this?
