NsgD

With the problems with my shoulder I decided it would be better to go lighter. After awhile of trying stuff and talking with the wife. I decided on a new SG standard. I tried 3 all 3 sounded and played good. But this one seemed to stand out. It wasn't quite as harsh and a little warmer sounding. It was just as loud and resonate.
The gold top was a good deal at $1599. But because of the salesman making some jokes in front of the manager and other customers. They made me a better deal got the SG, fulltone OCD, boss did-7, evh phase 90 and Friedman BE-OD all nib for $150 less than the gold top.

Sweet! C'mon, spill the beans... what did the sales guy say?

Re: NsgD

He said to stop being a b***h and take the pain. I knew he was joking but the manager didn't appreciate it.

That's when you just look at him. Knowing that someday, he very well may know the pain himself.

Re: NsgD

Congrats on the new sg, sorry about the shoulder.
Thats the last thing you need when you are in pain, some ******* making jokes about it.

Ugh. I'm with the manager on this one. And that sales guy needs to learn how to win the sale.

Re: NsgD

I tell ya what.. I know SGs are classic, but never particularly like the looks, etc.. But... When I scored an EPI SG400, it made me a believer. Nice to play, ballsy tone, light weight.. def want another...

Re: NsgD

Congrats, OP! The SG Standard is one of the few things that Gibson consistently does well. You got a great deal with all those pedals.

Enjoy your BE-OD, it does not mess around :D

Re: NsgD

I almost hate to say his,and although that SG a great guitar, I don't think its what he really wants based on what little i know about him. Oh well, it's a great springboard..

Re: NsgD

Thanks guys I really like it. I have always been a les Paul person. But I had a 74 sg standard when I was 19-20. Back then I didn't know anything about vintage value so I tried to strip the finish off. And the stripper melted the inlays and the glue holding the fretboard on. I haven't really looked at sg's since. I really liked the gold top and will have another.
But I'm going to wait until my shoulder is better and try to find a nice light weight chambered model. I need to take different pics. You can't tell because of the crappy lighting but it's actually the new dark cherry burst.
