NSNAXD!!! Look ma, no tubes...

So I took the plunge and got an Axe Fx 2 Mk 2 and the MFC-101 MK 3 footswitch!! Haters gonna hate, but this thing is awesome! Routing options, effects galore, amp and cab models.. Endless possibilities.

So of the amps I've owned, this thing gets there in terms of tone. The 800, Rectifier, Fender Siverface.. Top notch. The rest of the models sound absolutely fantastic. Even the Freidman models are badass.

The effects are equally awesome and the ability to change every parameter is mind blowing!

I also got a Matrix GT1000FX for pure clean power when I use my cab.

As far as tweaking, Axe Edit lays it all out on your screen and is a must for quickly breezing through the editing process! I just got Reaper on the ole laptop, so You guys will hear my mediocrity crystal clear now instead of iPhone clips!

Also pics or it's a V-Amp...

Cool - would like to hear its version of an old Marshall!

Re: NSNAXD!!! Look ma, no tubes...

I had the older Ultra - I tried the Frfr thing. Couldn't jell with it. A tube power amp and Thiele setup sounded more natural.

I keep it in back of my mind to get a new axe-fx. but its complete overkill for my playing.

Those are just fantastic all around from all the searching and listening I have done , not to mention all the very serious players that use them for their entire live rig nowadays. So jealous , grats!

Re: NSNAXD!!! Look ma, no tubes...

right on! why over Kemper? tweakability I am guessing.

also I was wondering why you prefer the cab setup instead of frfr or hearing the total mix of the band

I saw this thread on the subject: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/showthread.php?t=1249887

I went with the Axe as the controller is perfect match for the Axe since they are from the same company. Also tweakability, and the ability to set effects anywhere I want in the chain. The Kemper is sweet, but for me the Axe is the one.

Also as far as FRFR, I decided to just use my cab right now to save some coins to get a few of them. I got a smoking deal on the matrix, so I figured to use it with my recto cab. Ill still run direct to FOH from the axe, but the cab is just there for the "feel" right now. The FRFR passive cabs are still between 700-800 bucks a pop, and i got this amp for $450. Later on Id like to get two Atomic CLR 1x12 monitors to use.

The Kemper is great if you're looking to profile *your* setup or are willing to try to tweak other people's profiles. If you're looking for more control, the Axe FX is the one to get.

Yeah I sure I can gets some clips up soon. I'm still tinkering on the patches and tweaking. I'm more or less a mid gain junkie but I do dig into some heavier stuff.
