I went with EHX tubes in mine, lots of gain, and they are very quiet. I'm very happy with them.

You should swap V3 to something else.

In the TSL100 V3 is the cathode follower, and New Sensor spiral filament tubes (like EHX) do not last well there. If you want to stick with New Sensor, the Sovtek 12AX7WA, WB, or WC will work, otherwise try a JJ or Shuguang as tonal affects should be minimal. In addition to EHX, the following RI tubes made by New Sensor should also be avoided (in V3) due to their spiral filament construction: Genalex, Mullard, Svetlana, and Tung-Sol.

Since we’re on it I guess I’ll mention I’m not totally clear from google which tubes are what on the TSL 602 combo- doesn’t help that the head would be the reverse order and it’s not always clarified which model is being referenced. I guess the tube I replaced (that was to blame for low volume) is the phase inverter/far left? Russian Tung Sol came out, Russian GT went in so assume both are New Sensor.

V1- The 1st half of the valve is input, the 2nd part is overdrive
V2- The 1st half of the valve is overdrive, the 2nd part is Mixed- overdrive and clean
V3a-Feeds the tone circuit on overdrive
V3b-Is both overdrive and clean
V4- Phase splitter

V1 will almost always be the tube closest to the input jack, while the PI is typically closest to the power tubes. AFAIK New Sensor is the only tube manufacturer left in Russia, so you're probably right about the origin of your GT.
