NUGD/OGD/Mods (basically: pics)

First off, New Used Guitar Day: Ibanez RG321MH in 'Weathered Black'. Mahogony body, maple neck (fairly thick for a Wizard). Upgraded by previous owner with Grover Locking Tuners, CTS Pots, Switchcraft Jack, No-name pickups, and two series/parallel mini-switches.

I bought for the br00talz and to avoid taking nice guitars to university. Some of you may remember I was asking about new pickups but the no-name overwound PAFs work surprisingly well (and look perfect with the finish), and also about changing the switches to 3 position series/parallel/splits, but once again the previous job is so good I don't really wan't to mess with it.

P.S. The colour is a matt black, but I had to lighten the photo bring out the textured finish

Secondly (Old Guitar Day) is my acoustic: very cheap second-hand Crafter FX550EQ, figured Bubinga top (makes it look worth more than it is), fibreglass/plastic composite bowl-back, mahogany neck, rosewood board, LR Baggs Piezo and onboard pre-amp.

Had this for about a year, but finally got decent pics.

And lastly, mods: My first guitar, a Yamaha Pacifica 012, not much visually different from last time I uploaded. Replaced stock bridge with a Wilkinson with a big steel block, replaced the single conductor JB/59 with four conductors and wired them to a push-pull. Also bought some locking machine-heads but found that the holes are only 8mm (while all tuners are 10mm) and the 'collars' are attached with 'teeth' so they'd be a ***** to remove and widen the holes.

Nice!

Yeah that's a Wizard II on that 321MH. I much prefer it to the standard waaaaay too thin wizard. I like how wide it feels. Also, it was the original neck shape on the original JEMs.

Nice stuff, man. :beerchug:

Out of curiosity, what Wilky bridge is that on the Yamaha? I wasn't aware of any aftermarket parts that were a good fit for those Pacificas. They're an absolute b*tch to mod.

Nice! I have an RG321MH as well. Picked it up because of the fixed bridge.

Nice stuff, man. I love that "weathered black" finish. I wish more builders would use open pore finishes, it's an awesome look.

very kewl! I love the brushed metal look on the dark axes! Ive actually heard good things about the Crafters too. IIRC, they are an offshoot of godin or someone

Regarding the Wizard II, opinion's still out: I've got a super wizard (17mm!) On my RG3120 which is amazing but can lead to some horrible cramp doing maiden-esque power chord rhythms, a 'standard's wizard on my RG2550 which I havnt really had enough time with and now a Wizard II which doesn't seem as comfortable, but then again there's a vast difference in price so...

Regarding the Wilkinson bridge, I can't remeber the model name, but its the one with wide screw holes so it can fit 53mm to 58mm bridge spacing. The pacifica is 52-ish but can be 'convinced' to let it fit. For peeped interested in Pacificas I ran into the yamaha rep in my local shop and he showed me the new range, some of which include custom designed duncans and wilky hardware: they looked amazing.
