Nuno on Extreme

Re: Nuno on Extreme

I remember that brief period around 1990, when every rock guitarist got confused about whether they were Ed or the Chili Peppers. FUNKROCK! Ha ha.
Looking back.....the fashion sense was terrible!

Hot Grits...remember those bands like King of the Hill, Bang Tango, and Living Colour?
That stuff got killed quick by alternative, grunge, bluesrock, and the beginnings of Nu Metal and Ska.

Extreme's career hit a nosedive the day Teen Spirit hit the radio.

But thank god you can sniff the risings of glam rock coming back. On come the Darkness, then Living Colour release an album, out comes Velvet Revolver, Skid Row minus Bach reunite, then VH goes on tour...

Good times...

Coincidently, weren't mullets fashionable again 2 years ago?

Grits - did you here about the MaiFM guy about 12 months ago? Sold lotsa his collection including a 67 ES135 for $2500. My friend got his 70's ES335 mint for the same price.

Re: Nuno on Extreme

Joneser, I remember the funk-rock thing very well. The Chilis got it. Extreme didn't. Some VERY bad clone bands around that time. We had a local one called Rumblefish. they did a fairly awful cover of Grace Jones' 'pull up to the bumper', and had a t-shirt with 'funk off' on it. Oh, the 'funk' -related songtitle hilarity...

Don't be talking trash about Living Colour, though, I thought they were great. Vernon Reid was like a big middle finger to all us anal shred types. Awful clothes, though.

Seraphial, that guy is Dave Bridgeman, an old friend from way back. I saw him about a year ago, and he had a 60s es 345(I think), and a 64 or 65 strat he was looking to get rid of for about 7000 the pair. I don't know what he sold them for. He also got rid of a hacked up root beer Jem. That price you quote sonds a bit low, might be a case of Chinese whispers.

Dave is a killer guitar player and a great bloke. He work as the high-tech guy at Atwaters for years, and before that was at Musical Sounds Greenlane. Nowadays he's production manager at Mai. Does jingles all day. He's always selling stuff on trademe.
