Hails Guys.. Finally, i´m building my custom guitar here in brazil
but i have some dubts...
i want to know the smaller and the larger nut widths
i´m trying to copy my acoustic neck shape and nut width.. but,of course, it´s TOO LARGE.
so,i´ll do some kind of measure that will stay between the acoustic and the eletric guitar.
can anyone help?

Re: Nut Width Questions

1 5/8 is usually your most narrow and 1 3/4 is usually the widest. 1 11/16 falls in the middle of those 2. That is for electrics though. You said its an acoustic right? Its it a steal string or a nylon string classical style acoustic? Classical style acoustics have VERY wide nut widths. I want to say it might be around 1 7/8 or 2 inch or so. I dont exactly remember though.

Re: Nut Width Questions

1 11/16th is the perfect width for me... the 1 5/8's oddly feels too cramped for my big hands.... and the difference is not huge on a ruler but the feel is on a neck..

Re: Nut Width Questions

Some of my electrics have 1-5/8" nuts, and some have 1-11/16" nuts. Either one works fine for me.

Re: Nut Width Questions

ahhhhh ****.. i just understood your reply now theodie
thank´s guys
thank´s the odie.
i´ll measure my ESP mii deluxe, charvelfusion deluxe, and my acoustick.

Re: Nut Width Questions

The Odie - it´s an accoustic. i´m not sure if it´s a classic one or just a simple accoustick.
it has 19 frets
nut width is 5 centimeters .

Esp nut width is 4 centimeters and 2 milimeters
and Charvel nut width has 4 centimeters and 3 milimeters

Some older strats use 1 5/8. Some early-mid 80's Kramers used 1 3/4. Its hard to think of guitars off the top of my head that dont use 1 11/16.
