Nuts and tone

first of all sorry if this is in the wrong forum... so can we have some opinions regarding nut matterial and tone?

i want to change the nut of my guitar because it is cheap plastic and string sink into it....... does the matterial (graphite, brass, bone, plastic...) affect the tone ?

i wont be able to check back at this thread soon unfortunatelly, because i am studying for exams...

Know though that it will only noticably affect the tone of the open strings, as soon as you fret a note the nut material becomes a very small factor.
