Re: OCD V2 verses prev version?
Hi,
First, I have a friend who has played in serious recording and touring bands his whole life, is semi retired, and his OCD, although not new, sounds great, terrific with a Strat, and an 18 watt Marshall combo. Hendrix studio tone great, think VooDoo Chile' (Slight Return) great!
So, I have a zillion pedals, not the OCD V2, BUT-I CAN speak to the new way of buffering he speaks of. I was grappling for a new chorus, and TC Electonics has one with "true bypass" or a much hyped "Super Buffer" switch inside the unit I could use to try either manually. Trim pot I think he called it.
So I tried the unit on true bypass and this new Super buffer, and the new buffer was just like plugging right into the amp, no other pedals around. In an 8 pedal pedalboard!!! Wow. So I tried a 1 year old in place Boss delay with a standard buffer in place of the chorus, no true bypass option, standard buffer, and it was dull in my pedal chain in comparison. I will bet you a dollar to a doughnut, that both of these "New Buffers" are almost the same. So my small piece of advice is to give this new buffer a serious seat at the table when deciding.
