OD pedal to fatten up fender distortion

drew_half_empty

Looking for Real Life
i like fender distortion, i really do, infact i keep the drive all the way up & more drive on pretty much all the time, but the problem is its like, well, theres toxic doses of crunch, and no really fat distortion sound, so what would be a good pedal to use to get a fatter kinda sound out of it? think punk distortion, not metal by any means, but definately heavier than like van halen

i'm thinking maybe a rat2, would that work? i need a punchy, defined, yet fat sound

Re: OD pedal to fatten up fender distortion

Yes, it will fatten up the tone. You will need to roll off on the gain and then add the OD.

The Rat is good.

Re: OD pedal to fatten up fender distortion

Issh... dont put it in the efx loop...

Always hit your amp input with OD/Dist..

Re: OD pedal to fatten up fender distortion

Marshall Jackhammer or Big Muff. Jackhammer would have a more natural sound. Big Muff would be closer to pumpkins, old finger 11, it's kind of a one trick pony once you get the tone knob where you want it. Jackhammer has a huge bass end at your disposal.

Re: OD pedal to fatten up fender distortion

I Use a JackHammer and it's a great pedal..Pretty reasonably priced also..

Re: OD pedal to fatten up fender distortion

i hate marshall distortion, sorry

i listened to sound clips of the big muff on musiciansfriend...sounds too robotic

Re: OD pedal to fatten up fender distortion

how do you hate all marshall distortion?? many many punk bands use marshall jcm 800s and some use dual rects but those are usually the pop punk bands and theyre not considered punk by any stretch of the imagination in my book

Re: OD pedal to fatten up fender distortion

Look into the Tech 21 XXL pedal. It adds tons of FAT without adding very much distortion. It preserves your amp's natural tone. The catch is that they no longer make the XXL pedal- you might find one on eBay once in awhile...

Re: OD pedal to fatten up fender distortion

those bands are all pussies with record contracts ;) hehe

see? answered your own question

Re: OD pedal to fatten up fender distortion

wait the dual rect players or the marshall players? cause the ramones played marshall super leads......

Re: OD pedal to fatten up fender distortion

and they were pussies with record contracts.

i dunno about the dual rect & the jcm, i know anti-flag uses jcm's, but i'm not really familiar with too many band's gear

Re: OD pedal to fatten up fender distortion

Drew, I have come to a conclusion that you really don't know what your talking about. Get a clue and make up your mind. Go to GC and get a salesman to help you, they seem to be on the same level as you.

Danelectro Daddy-O is a very under-appreciated overdrive. Give it whirl on the clean channel of your HRD and you'll probably be surprised how good it sounds. :22:

Re: OD pedal to fatten up fender distortion

bones, chill out, i'm trying to learn stuff like this, so the best thing you can do is help me out, so i don't ask that question again instead of just saying crap about me not knowing things. Quit being arrogant, there are better people in the world than you

and theres no guitar center around here

Re: OD pedal to fatten up fender distortion

If it were me i'd be buying a Mesa V-Twin or Bottle Rocket... but i'm not really into punk, good tone regardless.

Same here. Who cares what style of music it is? Good tone = good tone, regardless.
