ODD experiment goes good! (duncan distortion related)

Re: ODD experiment goes good! (duncan distortion related)

Ranalli yes you CAN order a Seymour Duncan with 2 rows of adjustable poles. It's called a shop floor custom and just needs to be ordered that way so it takes a little longer to get but there is no charge for this. Blackrose or Lew can hook you up, and then you can switch around hex poles or slotted if you like to experiment.

if it doesnt make too much of a difference, I'll try the 4 in my Distortion. That will be weird!

if you do that it is the same thing as putting the 4 into the JB though?
the JB and DD are the same wind, wire gauge, wire type the only thing that seperates them is the magnets they use :)
trust me this has been confirmed the JB and DD use the same coils.
:burnout:

Cool...that's good news. Thanks.

I wonder if the allen screws would fit the invader. I wonder if putting them in an one or both coils of an Invader would give the Invader more clarity? If so, I would have to get my hands on one.

Theodie I did a post on that a while ago to satisfy Tattooed Carrots curiosity and it sounded better than the button head socket screws. Let me find the thread.

Read through this Theodie. That should answer any questions you have. Any other questions feel free to ask.

Hex poles in an Invader
I thank you very much for digging that up for me. So, If I understood everything correctly the hex pieces made a subtle change in tone and tightness. Is this correct?

Re: ODD experiment goes good! (duncan distortion related)

Theodie, yes and the fuzziness became a bit clearer with a more defined high end. That was in a Les Paul so YMMV.

the invader is the same coils as the DD and JB,once again what seperates it is the large OXIDE cap poles and three ceramic magnets
so IF you put in screws and stud poles and a alnico 5 magnet is goes back to being a JB.
if you put in one large ceramic and add the screw/stud poles it goes back to being a DD .
in a nutshell all three of theses duncan are the SAME two coils(two 8.3K coils),awg 44 wire, same # of turns) only each have a different magnet and in the invader's case different poles using large black oxide cap poles
this is why each has their own character even though they are the SAME pup! :burnout:
