Oddly enough I want a Telecaster....need help

Went to pick up strings today and stumbled across a Fender Lite Ash Telecaster. Apparently it's Korean made and comes stock with Duncan AP II's. Never cared much for Fender guitars personally but this one just fit like a glove.

Any input/knowledge on this guitar? The body appeared to be two piece, but well done. The bridge seemed a little cheap, and that it wouldn't allow for that fine of intonation tuning. I'm assuming I could replace it with a better bridge?

Tele ... probably the most hated guitar by me until I picked up one recently. Now I want a dozen more of tele ... Once bitten by tele, there is no way to survive without getting one or more ... lol

that's a good model man...IIRC, when they came out,Evan bought one and i think he said Seymour even liked it! (the lite ash tele)...i usually play on one every time i go to a shop...seems like it's got alot of good features for the $

Teles are great guitars, and more versatile than many people assume. They don't just do country. The first Zeppelin album was mostly played on a Tele. They are built like brick sh*thouses and the Fender screws and bolts design philosophy makes them easy to mod and upgrade. :fing2:

Wish I'd never sold my old one. Need another.

That's all very nice, but I think that Teles are dead ugly.. Bridges can always be replaced.. I'm a player more than a collector myself, so I won't have a hard time replacing stuff on guitars if it makes them play better, even if it ruins the reasle value..

i really like the bridge that is on there, it kinda lends to a slightly out of tne thing which sounds cool for a lot of different things. i have to say though, if you found a good lite ash tele then you should get it cause they are not all as good as the one you picked up. i tried one at a GC and i thought i was going to cut my hand, and i spotted a few more problems with it but basically i picked up a dud. I really wanted to like that tele but i knew i had three at home, and well the one i plaid just sucked.

long post short, if it feels right, get it.

Re: Oddly enough I want a Telecaster....need help

This is true. I was looking around for a Tele last year and played quite a few. One or two that were beautiful, one or two that were dire.

I love Tele's. I'm making do with a cheap Peavey version 'til I can get a "real" one. One of the great things about a Tele, is its control plate thats separate from the pickguard. Makes it real easy to try different wiring configurations without having to take the whole guitar apart.

btw - I'm not really "making do" with my Peavey. Its a very nice guitar for the money. Its just not a "Tele".

Re: Oddly enough I want a Telecaster....need help

yeah the ash ones are nice. replacing the bridge is an easy mod. those sound like nice pickups for a stock tele. it sounds awesome, wish I had one.

Re: Oddly enough I want a Telecaster....need help

I'm not a big Fender fan, period, and have a serious love/hate relationship with my Bastardcaster (heavily rebuilt mid 90's Tele), but would you like to guess which instrument goes along on EVERY job? Once you play them and learn to get what you want out of them, as much as it pains me to say it, you're hooked.

Re: Oddly enough I want a Telecaster....need help

I think I'm going to sell my Discontinued Schecter Tele to cover the costs of the parker nitefly I just got. It has Rio Grande pickups in addition to a couple of other upgrades, natural finish, black pickguard, nice chunky frets, has body contours too. Just had to drop a plug. Teles are awesome guitars. I wish I didn't have to part with it. If anyone is interested, let me know, I'll probably put it in the trading post section within a few days.

Yeah, besides Fenders, consider Schecters. I took a chance buying one without playing it first, and was shocked that it blew away the vast majority of Fenders I've played. Xeromus's even has Rios in it, and those do double duty as a P-90/vintage tele tone.

Ay first I didnt like teles that much but, over the years I liking them more and more. I would love to have a bunch of them now.

I bought mine about 2 years ago and I was'nt even looking for one. Just checking things out at my local music store when I saw it. Used, maple neck with a chrome red body. I bought it a week later. This past summer I installed the Lindy Fralin Blues Special set and wow, this Tele rocks!!

Re: Oddly enough I want a Telecaster....need help

The MIM Tele is a great deal , I prefer them over the USA models. I never thought of a Tele as a Hard Rock/Metal guitar but with a Hot Rails or Dimarzio Tone Zone T they scream!

Re: Oddly enough I want a Telecaster....need help

anybody a/b-ed the lite ash tele and the highway 1 texas tele? both are pretty bang for the buck!
