Official "Submit your counterfeit claim to Gibson" thread!!!!!

Re: Official "Submit your counterfeit claim to Gibson" thread!!!!!

I was thinking that it goes against 'flag code' to have have an incomplete representation of the flag. I don't think that is a thing anymore.
Just like many things, it is, or isn't, depending on who you are.

I forget the exact letter of the law, but according the flag code, the guitar is alright. The only disrespectful nonflag products are certain towels or blankets, because under the flag code they meet all the qualifications of an American flag. There is no penalty for manufacturing a towel or blanket as it is protected under the first amendment, but the more respectful recreations will include some sort of feature that makes it not an American flag. In 2018 an amendment was passed that allowed for such articles to include a "stylized flag" as part of their design. The first part of the flag code outlines what constitutes an American flag, and it is written so that incomplete depictions of a US flag do not have to follow the rest of the code, so that particular guitar is protected.

Because of the first amendment, the flag code is more a recommendation than law. For example, most people know that the flag shouldn't touch the ground, but most people don't know that it also shouldn't touch anything below it, such as a table or merchandise.

It's a whole 50 point document. If you are feeling patriotic on this fine Independence Day, feel free to read it in the last few moments of it. It may not make a profound impact on your life, but their is some neat stuff in their if you're into it.

Well, I'm well versed on the nature of battle standards.
I treat Old Glory accordingly.

If a list of rules about how to treat a flag has a profound impact on your life . . . I feel kinda bad for you. :P

Let's keep the political side of this out of here, because it will go no where.

You bringing up highly exploitable sensitive, political issue then asking people to not delve into politics, is what actually makes me giggle, not the whole joke about Gibson's hipocrisy. Or is that the actual joke?

First I didn't say anything political, l just was postulating on how this Gibson guitar treatment of the flag is cultural acceptable now -which is just a fact, when it wouldn't have been for the first 150 years of it's life, It's not highly exploitable if you are only talking about flag code as a subject in of itself -some people still revere treatment in that traditional manner, but since the 60s the Flag has been put on every product imaginable and become somewhat socially acceptable which is interesting, so keep it to that.

Alright, we aren't here to debate the flag...move on.

Notice the Firebird headstock and the "we didn't want to pay Fender licensing fees" offset Strat body. It comes complete with a crappy sticker on the pickguard.

C'mon guys, the Hendrix one is a cool little guitar. If i were a counterfeiter, i would fake this :laugh2:

DUDE that guitar is a legit Second gen U2 designed by Wayne Charvell while he a was at Gibson!! Is it still listed??
I just dropped this one to Gibson it isn't and there are DOZENS of these up on ebay. I want every one confiscated and burned in a huge public bon fire!!!
Listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/1959-R9-Ti...123&pg=2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100005.m1851
Open the listing and look at the photos. Photo 2 shows the back of the headstock with the stamped SN and Made in USA photo 5 clearly shows a Gibson logo it's an out right forgery. Every one of those who build these import these and list these need to go to JAIL!!!

No it's not still up. It's a real Gibson Production model meant to battle the early 80s Southern California Super Strat uprising.

Wow that link! how is that up on Ebay? doesn't Gibby have watchdogs for this crap?

Re: Official "Submit your counterfeit claim to Gibson" thread!!!!!

So, if Gibson copied Charvel, and Charvel copied Fender, Does Fender sue Gibson, or Charvel? Based on Body shape, of course?

Or does Charvel sue Gibson?

And what is the angle where Gibson can sue Charvel or Fender?

Gibson sues both. Because Gibson is run by dicks.
