I dig the instant alt tunings feature onboard. Very cool for the few of us that love playing around in weird tunings :fing2:

For the price of an American strat, these guitars are so awesome!

I'm mostly a lover of classic American guitars, but there's a big part of me that wants one of these for the sheer fact of how modern and cutting edge it is.

I'm a bit concerned about battery life, but other than that, I'm sold.
The gold and lake placid blue 69 are calling my name. I really tripped out on these guitars! It's like having a great playing guitar with good pickups, then hit a switch and you're in the 21'st century.

I have to admit. That is pretty darned cool. Now that they have real Duncan pickups in them, will these have the right FEEL to them instead of feeling dead when you switch over to the models? That trans-conductance is awfully nice most times with a good tube amp.

That's what I thought, mostly because I had the first generation Variax in my mind. These new ones are such a huge cut above them! I didn't get to try a LP style or expensive US version, but these guitars are a big breakthrough in terms of traditional meets high tech. For recording, these guitars will be amazing, because of all the possibilities.

Watch the video where that producer talks about scrolling through tones, to find something cool for any track he's contemplating. To me, it looks like the ultimate guitar to show up for a recording session with. With one of those, you'll be SO much better armed. Oh....sitar in DADGAD?....here ya go!

I had the first electric version, and the acoustic ones. Very very cool- I can't wait for the new ones.

You're going to want one! Nothing more to say. Just sell something and buy one! :14: It's like Music Man meets Line 6.

Re: Oh man....the James Tyler/Line 6 Variax

I'm seriously considering offing a guitar, just to get that one in my 2nd clip...the gold one. Having all those options in one guitar is very tempting. I like alternate tunings, and different tones, but also being able to come back to a traditional guitar. That guitar could become very addicting. I'm still a bit concerned about the battery life situation. Once I see that it won't be a hassle, I'll be more sold on this thing.

I'll be keeping my eyes wide open on these models though. They're the leading edge of guitar technology, and it's exciting stuff. At $1300, I won't think twice about parting with some things to make it happen. I'm not cash rich, but I'm not going to think twice about selling something off to have a great new tool like one of these!

Re: Oh man....the James Tyler/Line 6 Variax

I hope I can find one to try out at least! The first draft did not feel right, I'm sure this is miles ahead

Re: Oh man....the James Tyler/Line 6 Variax

Well, i had Version 1 of the Variax, and I have a Brian Moore....I think they did different things. The Brian Moore w/ VG99 is a much better guitar with an expensive interface- the Variax was more grab and go. I'd say the Variax was 90% of the BM/VG99 system, which isn't bad. With the Acoustic Variax, well, there isn't anything out there that directly compares. It is a great instrument with sounds not on any other.

Re: Oh man....the James Tyler/Line 6 Variax

Funny 'cause when Gibson went with the robots for tuning, everyone was bashing them...

I bet these are really cool though, a nice tool for those in need of all these possibilities...

a brian moore and a dtar mama bear is a pretty happenin piece of kit for convenient and musical-sounding (non gimmicky) piezo-acoustic variety
