It's gone and happened again!!!!!

I've gone and given myself GAS for yet another guitar that ''I don't need''.

I was learning some of my bands new songs earlier, and reached for my cheapie Telecaster to practise on as it was the nearest guitar to hand.

I started playing the songs and started wondering how the sustain of the Tele would improve if it was thru body stringing instead of how it is now. I also began to think how much better the neck pup would sound if I put a Duncan or something in there.

I weigh up in my mind the prices of all these mods and remember that I recently saw a Fender Light Ash Tele with Duncans in my local guitar shop for a good price. My thoughts then move to 'if I sell my Epi LP (which I planned to do anyway when my Gordon Smith arrives), and use some of the cash from the sale of my Laney amp on Ebay, I can get the Tele' and next thing I know........

I have major GAS for a Light Ash Tele with Duncan pups!!!!!!!!!

I have no idea how it happened either! It must've taken only a few minutes from my 1st picking up my Tele to decide that I want a new 1

Are we guitarists really that fickle? :laugh2:

Yep, it happens way too easily.

Luckily, I find that I get GAS for something, and then eventually something I once had GAS for no longer interests me. At least it doesn't pile up this way.

But it's darn annoying!!!

I know what you guys mean about it's easy to get GAS.

I'm not sure I agree with GAS not piling up though, I've started keeping a list of things I've seen that I can afford :| Maybe I shouldn't otherwise I'm gonna be very skint for the next few years!

GAS is Gear Acquisition Syndrome. Basically it means that most guitarists always see a piece of gear that they wish to 'acquire'

Haha I just got the exact same problem...

Picked up my squier and started playing with it on a clean sound with a bit of reverb, and thought - wow wouldnt it be great to own a real S/S/S strat.

Ahhh ha.. I have GAS all the time then. Currently its for a beautiful Fender Strat with a maple neck at my local Guitar Center store. I have zero need for it but I want it more than I've ever wanted any guitar. Ahh well. I don't have MSN since I reformatted my computer a few weeks ago and I haven't gotten around to downloading it yet. My aim name, however, is JimZucco. When I get MSN though, I'll add you right away. You know, I think guitarists really are that fickle. Not a moment goes by when I don't want a guitar I don't have. I doubt it'll ever stop. I know guys that own tons of guitars and they don't plan on stoppin' any time soon.

Hey Brow, i totally understand! Last night out of no where I decided to sell my Mint condition MIM 2003 Agave blue tele with maple neck and kill switch installed so I can afford a 90's MIA tele in this Aqua/Turquoise color. It was the most random thing thats ever came to me.

GAS strikes again!

It's strange how 1 minute you're perfectly happy with your sound/gear and the next, you're selling your favourite guitar/amp etc to get something new!

I'd be guily of it alot more if I had the funding

ive been on a tele kick lately too... i own the lite ash tele and its great.... i have to talk myself out of the flame top american deluxe tele about 3 times a week

The locking nut looks a bit out of place on a tele IMO, and it looks like they didnt get the body shape exactly the same.
