Oh Yeh Peavy VALVEKING

I was killing time in the music store the other day, I they had just gotten one of the new peavey valve king heads in.....It's an all tube 100 head. Looks cheap as crap, plastic knobs and Jacks...........BUT WOW... this little guy rocks! I'm in love with that little thing. I'm gonna get rid of my JSX and get one! Anyone else as impressed as I was with the valve king?

i tried the combo and hated it. dull and lifeless, like you really had to work to get the notes out. and i usually like peaveys....their solid states sounded better than the valve king.

I listened to a buddy of mine try out a Valveking a while back. It's not bad for a cheap tube amp. I prefered it to their solid-state amps, but I'd never consider trading a JSX for one - and I played the same guitar through one later that day.

I wonder how well they'll hold up, but otherwise I think they're great beginner tube amps for someone who insists on buying new.

WOW, I've never heard anyone THAT impressed with a Valve King. I owned one, and it is a good amp, but I wasn't nearly taht impressed, I would definetly rather have a JSX head.

My interest peaked when it came out and they were so reasonably priced. I haven't heard it, but I can't imagine its better-sounding than a JSX. I'm the same way though, I'll go ga-ga over stuff that's cheap and not known for being something people go nuts over. If it's right for you, go for it. I would think you'd be missing that JSX though.

I have the VK 1x12 50w. It's okay, I use just the clean channel with a Toneport as amp models - again it's "okay" imo.

Eh I have the 112 combo. Its an ok amp the stock speaker is crap. The signal drops out momentarily when you switch channels. The effects loop is after the reverb so no OD or Distortion in it. No real clean headroom to speak of but thats prolly due to the speaker being crap. Most of the problems have to do with the speaker so if your buying the head you will be cool.

I just played one at the shop for a while and they are awful, bubbly gainy and dry.

i got the 1x12 combo froma buddy of mine a week ago an i like it alot better than the past few amps i have had or the ones he has. i dont really care for the sound of the combo's speaker. but i am running it through an open back 2x12 cab and it sounds alot better.
