Ok! Boss GT-6 demo: "Beef and Oranges"

This is part one of the demo. I will do a more formalized, unaccompanied thing later. This song is an original I came up with, and I tried to work in as many influences as possible. You will notice, I try to be Vai/Satch, then Zappa/Rid (I hope I stole your style this time! ;) ), then modern Marty Friedman (most people don't like Music for Speeding, but I think it's awesome), then a little Paul Gilbert, and Biu at the very end :) There's little VH tricks here and there. Anyway, excuse any unexpected noise or low-level clipping, I rushed through the mixing process :smack:

Here it is:
Beef and Oranges

I used Marshall Plexi models, Fender Pro Reverb, and Roland JC-120 with various pedals. Hope it sounds ok :smack: :yell:

Interesting, with great playing and tone. My GT-3 doesn't quite get that tone, actually.

Re: Ok! Boss GT-6 demo: "Beef and Oranges"

How can anyone badmouth Music for Speeding?! Because it has a J-Pop influence? That album is incredible!! Will check out your song shortly, Biu.

Re: Ok! Boss GT-6 demo: "Beef and Oranges"

Okay, heard it.
Your playing makes me sick. :D

Very nice stuff. The bitrate is terrible, however.
The song fades just as I thought it was getting interesting!! :)

Re: Ok! Boss GT-6 demo: "Beef and Oranges"

Nice licks. I like your style very much because it is unique and sounds always new. :)
I agree with Twilight at the end it becomes VERY interessting. :cool3:

Re: Ok! Boss GT-6 demo: "Beef and Oranges"

the title made me order Chinese food... Orange chicken mmmmm

Awesome playing Biu

Re: Ok! Boss GT-6 demo: "Beef and Oranges"

Damn! That's pretty good playing Biu! How do you manage to make so much good quality clips in such a short time?
The fast shredding tone sounds great but the cleans are not so good, they hurt my ears.

Re: Ok! Boss GT-6 demo: "Beef and Oranges"

I really like the hooks after 1:00. I'm with nightburst on this, the drive tone is great but the cleans were a bit harsh.

Nice shredding btw! The tap section sounds great

Re: Ok! Boss GT-6 demo: "Beef and Oranges"

**** man.. you got a ****load of new stuff up on soundclick

ok...
1st that got into my ear... you should do less of a 100% pan left and right.
try doing a 70-30 or something like that pan, cos it sounds a wee better and it's not as left/right restricted. it will still sound like there's two guitarists, one left and right, but less like they're separated by a wall and more 'live'

that aside... this rocks, but it's too damn short . LOVE the fast part. it's pulled off with class and fits the whole song so well it's crazy. very well done man, now do at least 5 minutes of this song, it's way too short

i dont know what you guys have against the clean track, it sounds just fine to me

Wow! Thanks for the awesome response! I guess the Fender setting I made was too "in-your-face" (in this case, in your ear  ), haha. Anyway, the reason I stopped the song around 3:00 is because I thought you guys would be bored of it by then, but I guess not. Hmmm, I think I will do this one again and extend it to maybe around 5-6mins? Today's my birthday, so maybe something cool will happen :)

Davey, thanks for the tips, man! I think I REALLY need to pan the clean parts. It DOES sound like I just put seperate people in boxes and hit record.

You always have great ideas bro.. very melodic with the chords. It's very 80s.. the smiths to the Ramones without the solo parts.. then, holy moly great shredding man!!

Dude you rock! :)

Re: Ok! Boss GT-6 demo: "Beef and Oranges"

Happy birthday man, killer track and great playing! I wish I could do that when I was 17 (or now ;)).

Re: Ok! Boss GT-6 demo: "Beef and Oranges"

HEY, PEOPLE!!! I just updated it. it's about 4 minutes now with some added solos. I also used the cool SLICER FX on my GT-6. Check it out!

Stevo, this is odd! I'm usually the one commenting on your tunes! My face lit up when I saw your post :)

And everybody, thanks much for wishing me a happy birthday! Seeing that you guys like this tune was a great gift in itself! And it gets better because I extended it and destroyed that nasty "icepick" sound to the cleans :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PUCKBOY!

Thanks, man! That's what I was going for, a really weird and surprising song. Did the demo help? Weren't you interested in a GT-6 or GT-5, B2D?

Re: Ok! Boss GT-6 demo: "Beef and Oranges"

A journey through different passages... a smorgasboard... what else can I say but that playing ability is what I sought after. Top playing Biu, keep it coming :)

How do you learn different chords? I have a chord book but it's kinda missing :p
