I listened to the two first clips you had on your soundclick page, CCHRDT and EMG81/85. I like the EMG's more quite a lot. CC seems to have a bit more crunch than 81, 81 is much tighter and clearer. HR sounded a bit boring to me, 85 sounds more clear and musical to me. I wouldn't go around calling them sterile. Maybe a bit too much gain on the EMGs, can you record some more with less gain?
Overall, nice tones and very nice of you to post clips about them. One could have expected them to sound more different. IMO the EMGs sound better than SDs, even if you didn't have bad tone with them either, it's just better with EMGs.
What do you think for yourself?

They both have their good points, but I'm going to have to say I prefer the SDs on this one. The EMGs are definitely unholy, but they didn't speak to me as much. They didn't seem to have the personality that the SDs did. (I hope that translates properly)
Don't discredit your playing either. You pulled off some good licks on those. Sure, they're not polished like a final cut on a CD, but they're not bad at all.

I liked the CC/HR over the EMGS. They had more depth and vibe.
