Ok how do you use a compression/limiter pedal

Re: Ok how do you use a compression/limiter pedal

#1 I use it on acoustic to get better string to string balance considering my lousy picking.
- General setting comp setting some attack squash, some sustain

#2 I use it with my P-90 guitar to tame a slight bass-boom when clean jazzing/blues
- Attack squash, but no sustain boost

#3 I use it to both boost and add sustain as a solo boost
- Gain/level boost, and sustain boost, with no attack squash

Re: Ok how do you use a compression/limiter pedal

Ok people so I think I starting to understand the compression pedal alittle more now. To use an analogy that I found, it's like a running water hose and the water coming out is the how long the note will sustain. Squeeze the hose (compress it) the water squiurts out further (the note will sustain longer). Not 100% sure about the attack but I think it has to do with how fast the comppressor compresses the sound. So does this sound right to you guys?

Question: Would you guys recommend using a compression pedal for heavy metal rythym style playing? If so why and how?
