ok how does he do that?

Re: ok how does he do that?

Bungalow Bill is obviously right. That technique takes A LOT of practice to get sounding like that dude. Check out EVH's Cathedral for more vol-swell fun :)

BTW, thanks for inadvertently introducing me to Glen Kuykendall. He's pretty darn good.

Re: ok how does he do that?

Try Yngwie Malmsteen's Echo Etude! There you got volume swells the whole way. If you learn that song you will master the technique! You want some more crazy volume swells check out Steve Morse. Now here's a guy who uses his volume knob like crazy.

Listen closely to this solo as he uses the volume knob extensively. Around 1:00 is where he does a lot of it bit if you pay attention you can tell how much he uses it before he does all the swelling! Check it.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Yngwie :smack: The swelling he does on Black Star is pretty unbelievable.

I like the vid of kuykendall with a 59 paul.. Man, Id love to play one of those.

Watching the Eddie clip was cool how he works the volume.. Ive played the $25k replica and its amazing how low the action is.. fingering this would be effortless. Personally, I couldnt play it cuz it was too low compared to what Im used to.

After seeing Eds mastery of the volume knob, I have almost 0 respect for this guy.. He must be using effects alone..
