Ok, I Give Up On The Marshall Jubilee

Re: Ok, I Give Up On The Marshall Jubilee

Really? I figured the cab is worth 4 - 500. I am not settled on that price, but, with that reasoning the head is 1300-1400

Re: Ok, I Give Up On The Marshall Jubilee

Duh! :smack: Just reread and saw "half stack". :6: Considering that, yeah, that's a decent price. One just went for $2000 on eBay (with a few extras).

Re: Ok, I Give Up On The Marshall Jubilee

I'd look at that like $1200 for the head and $600 for the cab. It's hard to find silver cabs in good condition.

I scored this mint 2550 stack for $1400 a few years ago from an old hippie that lives out in the middle of the Mojave Desert. It actually freaked me out, because I drove way out into the middle of nowhere with a bunch of cash, and my cell phone didn't work out there. I was thinking..."I hope I don't get killed by a biker gang." Luckily, it was just a guy who works on the California aquaduct, and he kept this stack in mint condition with original covers, tucked safely in his closet since 1990. A great score!

Joe, do you think that amp would satisfy my High Gain to metal needs.
BTW, the cab is a little beat with a tear in the back.

I just cannot bring myself to buy a Recto, it's just not the sound I want, though cranked everything in a room turns to mush. I have one of 2 options - sell my Shiva and my Framus and get a Bogner Ecstasy use

OR

Buy a Silver Jubilee and look cool in front of the Marshall crowd.

I will admit, one knock on the Ecstasy, is even the signed bands I have been in do not want to look like they have expensive stuff - they prefer the image of Marshalls over having an XTC which is a $3-$4k amp.

OK, I had to add this. My girl would actually prefer I sell my Framus and get a TC Helicon Voice live and some studio time

OR

Sell the Shiva and Framus and get an XTC

Re: Ok, I Give Up On The Marshall Jubilee

The Jubilee is a nice amp, but it's a more focused and narrower gain tone, kinda like George Lynch in the 80's, Racer X, etc. It's a highgain crunchy sound.
Compared to the Ecstasy, the Jubilee is like one chapter of Marshall, while the XTC is the history of Marshall in one box.

As far as image, boutique amps are pretty acceptable by most bands, although Marshall, Vox, and Fender looks more timeless. That's actually the reason I don't care for fancy boutique guitars....because they look too white collar. I like guitars that are working dogs, and amps that kick ass.

After all the gearhunting I've done, I've realized that life is good with an Ecstasy halfstack and 1 or 2 other cleaner amps. The Ecstasy has a great clean channel, which is underestimated by everyone who talks about it. The amp's ability to morph itself into any gain tone you want, makes the price pretty well justified.
Still, I love having the Matchless and Goldtone sitting around for more tonal variety. And keep in mind, I'm not rich enough to run out and buy high dollar amps. I just moved around other amps, and kept trading up to the stuff I really wanted. Who knows, maybe I'll sell a few things and get a Komet next! LOL

I thought you were so in love with your Shiva??? :smack:

Play, play, play. You need to play these amps before you really make decisions. A million people will tell you a million different things, so figure out what to believe yourself. The XTC has a good range of Marshall tones (it's more varied than the Shiva), but the cleans just don't compare to the Shiva.

Re: Ok, I Give Up On The Marshall Jubilee

I do love the Shiva, I just can't afford them all

(maybe I misread your tone, but) ummm I have a feeling I play play play more than enough - but uhh thanks for the advice oh zen master of music
