Ok, I know it's not popular, but I like the ETune system.

I put one on my LP Studio, and I really like it. I have one that came on my SGJ etune, and I've come to really like it. Anyone else?

I have the gforce on my les paul, I don't hate it, but I wish it stayed in tune better. I have to retune every 3-4 songs

A student I had brought his LP in. I am not a traditionalist by any means, and it seemed to work fine. If it doesn't stay in tune, or causes balance/ergonomic issues, then I would have a problem. Plus, I am not sure how cheap it is to replace if something goes wrong- reminds me of those electric window motors in cars that always go bad at one time or another.

It's all in how you use it. It's great for a quick grab and go gig, or just running to a jam. Plinking around at home, you never have to look for your tuner. Most people that had problems with them treated them like regular tuners. They are 40:1 tuners with a servo motor in it. You don't crank on them like you do regular tuners. Small adjustments are fine when the system isn't on, and changing strings, you need to use the system.

I am usually the curmudgeonly old dude when it comes to gear, as in, the old way is the best.

That may be a result of your picking technique too. I have standard tuners on my guitars and I pick pretty hard, so every 3-4 songs I have to retune as well.

I do hit pretty hard, I'm an aggressive player, so I shouldn't say the system itself doesn't hold tune well, as much as maybe I play aggressively, therefore, I need to tune more often than others.

Good point Johnny.

Like I said, I'm the same way. If I'm playing, I'm usually focusing more on the sound that I'm getting from the instrument rather than whether or not I'll be in tune by the end of the song.

I bought some from Stratosphere, for much less than Thomann (one of the few places that sells them as after market items). Real handy for just getting on with playing. I had an email chat with the peple that design/make them, because I went a bit overboard at one point:

Interesting that you have it on your 12 string like that.

Do you ever do any different tunings with it for fun?

Not really, it got quite problematic to do just one, and rather defeated the idea of what I was trying to do with the E-Tunes in the end. Unison pitches, and string tension played havoc!
