OK, I understand the theory of adding a resistor across the two outside lugs of a potentiometer to change the value.

I'm ready to do this in one of my guitars...

BUT...

On my guitar's volume knob, the unused outside lug is bent back and soldered to the pot casing (therefore grounding it...).

Do I still continue as planned, soldering the resistor from the used outer lug, to the unused one (that is bent back and soldered).

??????

THANK YOU for your help!
