yeah saw a left hander CIJ and nearly exploded in unkown emotional proportions after watching a few youtube vids and reviews!!!

so its trying to get hold of one, a dealer said tis possible but fender may say know, if that fails then its ebay and atm they fetch about 690GBP then 90GBP postage and then whatever customs decide to charge me depending on the rotten bar stool who's got my package on the morning......

but still, goddamn beautiful and one hella good tone

Re: ok.. I WANT A MUSTANG

Do it!

I love the sound of a Mustang. They've got a tone all their own - not Strat, not Tele. It's like a chimey, grindy sound. I love it!

Excellent choice.

Oh yeah....the guitarist from Hole. Courtney Love's husband.

Funny story... they found a lot of old Nirvana demos that sounded like Hole songs from years later.

I'd love a mustang myself... I'm currently hunting a Bronco. :D

Re: ok.. I WANT A MUSTANG

Mustangs are great although the CIJ ones are lacking in fit and finish. For the price I want the pick guard and control panel to fit properly and have yet to see one that does.
G&L's SC-2 is an evolved Mustang and also worth looking at.

Re: ok.. I WANT A MUSTANG

SC-2 you say? Vedddy interestinck. Check out the MIM Tornado's and Cyclones as well. Kind of like Duos/Stangs on steroids.

Re: ok.. I WANT A MUSTANG

SC-2's are great although I've seen a few which people have added pickguards too which looked very sweet. They are great for slide.

hmmm, guys that Guitar Kurt cobain is holding in the pic is actually the Jagstang, a design created by cobain himself, featuring.... well features, from the Jaguar and Mustang models.

The Jagstang was only put into production a short time before Kurt died, therefore the one he used himself was one of the prototypes???

anyway still cool guitars.

No, I'm pretty sure that's a Mustang modded with a 'bucker in the bridge. I think he used a JB but then switched to a Dimarzio Super D?

He didn't use the Jagstang that much. Apparently he hated it.

Yep that is a modded Mustang. Kurt had two Custom Shop Jagstangs but they were works in progress. The sonic blue one was used on his last European tour and that formed the basis of the production model however Kurt's both had two bumbuckers. The sonic blue guitar was given to Peter Buck of REM after Kurt died and is seen here.
I also think he had another Jagstang which wasn't anything to do with Fender but made for him by someone.

Re: ok.. I WANT A MUSTANG

He had a red one built for him by Danny Ferrington, which he only used for recording but as far as I know it was a standard Mustang shape. It just had the controls and input jack simplified and moved around to different locations. Heart shaped inlays, as well. I can't remember, but I think it had three pickups? It's been ages since I read up on his gear.

I think Dave Navarro ended up with one of his old guitars as well, though I'm not sure which one.

The Ferrington one was more off set than a normal Mustang although not by much. It had the jack on the side and a H-S-S lay out. I think that one is in the Hall of Fame or Grammy Museum.

Re: ok.. I WANT A MUSTANG

Kurt was such a legend though.

Fame alone does not convey merit. Austria's best known bad watercolourist became internationally recognised. (Name and moustache omitted!)

Meanwhile, the G&L SC-2 posted by John L looks seriously tasty.

I'd really like them to do it in the Whiskey colour that they only use for the Cantrell model. But they are really nice guitars.
