Ok,My Now Completed Marshall 1987 50 Watt Head!

STRATDELUXER97

Stratoblaster Tone Meister
I assure you all that this is the best sounding Marshall I've ever played through....Special thanks to my buddy Trace Allen for coaching me with some stuff AND HIS CUSTOM OT AND CHOKE....

Yesterday I got the Mercury Magnetics OT and Choke in the amp that Trace(Voodoo Amps)sent me and a new "Plexi" face plate...The other one lost all of it's lettering....

A few goodies inside the amp,Sozo caps, some cool mods,PIMV etc....Just a rippin, smooth, sounding amp.....I'm now at the point where I'm just listening to the effects different preamp tubes have and I'm still using a set of first generation Svetlana EL34s that sound great in this amp!

Which MM choke did you get? Or maybe I should say, How many Henrie's is it? I used a stock value choke (3H I believe) I've heard you can get some more grit by increasing the value? Looking Good. :fing2:

That looks really great, John. I'm no PTP guro by any stretch but from those pics, I can tell you put a lot of time in to it. Nice. :bigok:

Not sure on the specs? Just what Trace uses and recommends...The choke is made custom for Traces V Plex amps..The choke just reads "Mercury Magnetics" VA-50 Choke...The OT reads "Mercury Magnetics VA-50 OT"

VA.....Is Voodoo Amps...

Looks gorgeous John!:bigthumb:

DEF NEED CLIPS!

:smash: <-------I'm gonna keep doing this til you post some! :D

And I'm sure the thing is gonna sound phenomenal. And although it doesn't have much to do with your amp, I just hafta say Trace's VPLEX's absolutely KILLLLLLLLLL....so if he recommends it, I know it's gonna be a good choice.

The OT and Choke were a big step up from what I started out with before this project...Just a very big tonal difference overall.....My amp is pretty killer now also! Trace is always the biggest factor in helping me with my tonal wants and desires via e mail and phone...Friends for alot of years already! :bigok:

Looks like a great amp I'd love to have. I don't need clips.....you only live in Florida, so just crank it up. I'll stick my head out the window and give it a listen! LOL

Nice work brother!

If it sounds as good as it looks you have a killer piece for sure! It makes me wish I still had the time to build amps!

Enjoy it for all of us!

Re: Ok,My Now Completed Marshall 1987 50 Watt Head!

Looks really nice!

Why are there those 2 or 3 wires wrapped in the braided cloth piece?

Re: Ok,My Now Completed Marshall 1987 50 Watt Head!

Was the amp originally a reissue that you converted to handwired?

Added some cool mods to V2 and the slope part of the circuit is all...
