okay why JB sounds superior in MAPLE?

Re: okay why JB sounds superior in MAPLE?

You know every time you talk about your Kramer I just wonder why are you not putting a JB in it. It aint gonna clash. It is gonna rock in it. Dont be afraid of tones too bright. If Ihad a baretta I would surely move the JB to it... But ofcourse each man has his own taste.. the CC too will rock in that guitar..but I say give the JB a shot in that.

yes now that im hearing ppl talk about the kramer/JB combo, its really making me want to try it out.:D

Folks like me have talking about the Kramer/JB combo for YEARS! It's nothing new. A simple search would have shown you what people think right off the top.

I have a JB in a guitar with a maple top, love it.

A maple top doesn't have the same properties of a solid maple body. The rest of the body of your guitar is most likely mahogany or basswood and that part of the guitar will have a great affect on the tone than the cap. The cap will have an affect, but it will be very small compared to the entire body being made from that wood.

Re: okay why JB sounds superior in MAPLE?

That is more a product of the JB interacting with a given amp/speaker combo. I'll tell you the JB in my ESP is not loose at all run through my Crate 5V with an Eminence Ragin' Cajun, nor with my Vox. I don't like the sound of the JB in any guitar I have played yet through a good number of Fender amps.

So, every amp/speaker I have played the JB through has had this problem.

The JB is a very finicky pickup, end of story.

JB sounds great in my SL2H. Maple neck thru with Alder wings.

I HATED the JB in everything I played it in (15+ guitars) until I tried an old school Baretta with a JB. It was a night and day difference after that! The JB rules in the right guitar but, sucks badly in most!

I have an SL-4 with ash wings and maple neck through. The JB came from the factory in both the neck and bridge. It was great in teh neck but, sucked horribly in the bridge. Way harsh! In all fairness, The only thing that tamed the bridge position of that guitar was a PATB-3. I tried nearly every Duncan bucker in that guitar before that.
