Old amp's first show

I bought a 1967 Fender Bassman from my dad's friend a couple of months ago. It sounds sweet (suprisingly) because it is all original (never been retubed!). I phoned a local music store, and the "am guy" there said that if it sounds good, it doesn't need to be retubed. I've played with it a lot at basement levels, but now it is time to play it's first show. My band is performing at a battle of the bands, and I'm worried it won't be able to handle really high volumes. Do you think it will be ok?

turn it up and play it a little at the volume you are going to use it at but i assume that it will be ok.

Re: Old amp's first show

I would recommend you take your band into a rehearsal space and crank everything up. It sounds like you have been rehearsing at a lower level than what you plan on playing the GIG at. Yopu don'r want to be surpised at the GIG and not feel comfortable with your sound as a whole. Spend about 2 hours rehearsing at GIG volume. That should answer the questions about the amp as well as the rest of the bands sound!

But I agree with the Amp Tech. If it sounds OK the tubes are probably OK.
