Pre-pro's FTW! I would never try and buy one nowdays unless I knew the seller personally. Too many Charvies trying to be passed off as them.
... I thought the compound neck radius wasn't invented by Warmoth until the mid-late '80s... :banghead:
... Charvel used 11" straight radius necks... these authentic vintage Charvel flyers don't lie..
... well the flyers said 11" not 12". And if that's the case then... who was first w/ the patent? Which necks were first with the compound radius... because Ed's Frankie neck wasn't compound...and it was a Boogie Bodies/Warmoth neck. But they do. I thought for years that mine had a 12" radius because that was what the I was told when I first got it. A few years ago after reading some comments by Greg Warmoth posted in this forum about early compound radius and Charvels, I checked mine with a guage. It is 12-16" compound, no doubt about it.
It's not a "licensed" Floyd, it's an Original Floyd Rose. Granted it's not made by Schaller, but no one has yet proven either way whether they're as good as a Schaller-made or not.
One can not call the Floyd on the new USA Charvels an OFR by any stretch...I could care less who makes it, or what the advertising or labelling may say. I have lots of OFRs and Schaller and I do own a new US Charvel, it is not the same quality as an OFR or what most people refer to as an OFR
... NBD. :friday: I never thought those old San Dimas-era Charvels were all that flat.Well it's time to man up and admit I was wrong. All this got me to construct a few of of my own guages and double check. I made an 11" gauge, and 12" gauge, and a 16" guage and pulled the strings off. It seems to fit the the 11" the best, all the way down too. I don't know why the results are different from what I recalled from a few years ago. More accurate guages than those I had then? There's very little difference between 11" and 16" BTW. I don't know, but those were todays results
... could be flame Koa... like Carvin uses... or the top of that Reb Beach model Ibanez (flame koa over mahogany). Dude must be desperate for $$... I'd snag it for only $400 bills w/ case... if I had $400 bills... :banghead:How do the 1990's Reissue IIs rank compared to the new USA models? Also, can anyone verify the wood used for the body. I'm thinking it's Koa and not mahogany like the seller stated.

Forums are so entertaining. So now while I have your attention....apparently, you missed my statement about the fact that I think it is very good Floyd, but not quite the same as my Schallers and my Schaller OFRs.....
... Put them side by side and look at them....if you are blind, you get a pass on the evaluation. FloydRose can call it an OFR, but I suppose a Gibson Kramer is just like an 80's Kramer whether I like it or not also.
And the new ones are made with 1-piece maple necks because it's the least-expensive manufacturing process. That's also why the truss rod adjusts at the heel as opposed to the head. It's a cost-cutting choice.
